Gender predictor based on HR?

I had another ultrasound yesterday and was 10 weeks 2 days. The heart rate was 171 bpm.

Any predictions on what the gender would be based on your experience? I know they say if its higher than 140 its a girl, and lower than 140=boy but I didn't know how many weeks along you needed to be for that to work.

All I know is it was so amazing seeing the baby yesterday he/she is looking like a little baby now!!

This is an old wives tale. DS always had a high HB and he's definitely a boy.

It doesn't matter how many weeks you are because it doesn't work, period.  HRs change constantly so there's no way to use HR as a basis for gender prediction.

IMO, for that OWT to even be applicable, you need to wait until the second trimester. Most babies (not all) tend to have a higher HB in the first trimester. It tends to level out and run consistent into the second trimester. But, it is not reliable. It is an OWT after all.

Baby's HR changes throughout your pregnancy, and it can change during the day depending on if baby is resting, active, etc. It doesn't work.

My son was high 165-170.  So no, not a good predictor.

Hey, Congrats! I just saw & heard my baby's heartbeat at 8wks ultrasound & it was 157beats, everyone is telling me it's a girl compared to what their girls heartbeats were at that point.....
