heartburn

I am 19 weeks and I have been having awful heartburn for several weeks. Yesterday my chest hurt so bad and at first I didnt know if it was heartburn or something actually to do with my heart  ( it was only heartburn) . Do any of yall have heartburn this bad. Its and everyday all day thing now. How can I make it better.

yeah, i have it every day, and mostly in the evenings/night time.  i usually eat about 6-10 tums a day, depending on how severe the pain is.

Milk can help neutralize the acid and if you can avoid laying flat, that'll help at bedtime, you can prop up pillows or buy a wedge (or use a boppy if you have one).

Tums wasn't enough for me this time around, so the doctor has me taking Zantac twice a day.  I highly recommend it, but you may want to check with your doctor.

My heartburn got so bad I wasn't able to stand up at work so I went to ER (it was that bad) ended up there for a few hours getting pumped full of stuff, turns out I wasn't getting enough liquids plus I had been under a lot of stress and it was a really bad combination. Now I'm on a prescription for it and so far I haven't had any problems with it returning, thankfully!

Yep, every day... So far TUMS have been doing the trick for me. Hopefully, that remains the case.

This is gross, but I had it so bad yesterday, my husband said my breath smelled like something died in there, I immediately went to the bathroom and gargled with mouthwash....talk about embarrassing.  I have been taking Tums, but I probably need to take something more.

I have been taking papaya extract (chewable pills which taste awesome!). I also find eating applesauce helps me and a friend of mine swears buy chocolate soy milk. I had bad heartburn prior to pregnancy, and my prescription meds are not ok to take right now. I used to love spicy food but now I know to leave it alone! See if you can figure out what bothers you and avoid it!

Yes I know that feeling!! I haven't had it bad yet with this pregnancy. With DS I had it so bad. I had to take a zantac before I ate lunch or dinner. I would even have heartburn drinking water. I had a stash of zantac and tums beside my bed, in my car and in my purse and the bathroom. It was terrible!!! I would throw up all the time. I couldn't eat anything with any kind of spice which sucked.
Good luck and hopefully yours isn't as bad as mine was with DS but he did have a lot of hair when he was born.
