Time to say farewell...

Well ladies, I thank you for all the wonderful advice you've share but it's time for me to move on.  Victoria Rose was born on Thanksgiving Day!!!  

My water broke Wednesday morning, a slow leak and we headed off to the hospital with contractions at 5 minutes apart.  At the hospital, they got down to 3 minutes but they weren't strong enough to be effective so I was started on pitocin.  WOW!!  That definately makes the contractions worse FAST!!  Within 30 min. I was asking for an epidural, and while the anestisiologist was trying to stick me I had to get him to stop b/s the contractions were making me shake so hard I couldn't sit still.  Fast forward a few hours and I am so numb you could saw off my legs and I couldn't tell. ( An odd feeling.). Problem was that it was time to push and I still can't feel a thin, even the cervical checks.  Had to argue with the anesthesiologist to turn down the epidural b/s I couldn't feel anything, "why is that a prob?"  Was his response.  Duh!  After an hour I still couldn't feel a thing so my nurse turned the epi off.  It still took about 2 hours to get enough sensation so that I could push.  When LO was born she dragged an elbow down and tore me up inside, so it took the OB 2 hours to fix me up.  My mom cautioned me not to get behind on my pain meds.  NOTE TO ALL FTM-- THIS IS SO TRUE!!  Even if you need to get hubby to monitor if you get the meds do it.  Doc had to restart the epi so that he could fix me up, and I fell asleep while she was cleaning me and the room up.  I woke up when I had to move to the next room, and the epi had worn off.  OWWWWWWW!!!!!!!  Our next blow was that despite having a wonderful pregnancy, peds docs said LO has Down's syndrome.  But you know, it doesn't matter.  I have a beautiful little doll and she's mine.  My dream has come true.  I have a loving, caring husband and a beautiful little girl.  Thank you, God!

Congrats on your little girl! And after reading your story, let me just suggest stool softeners or you'll be hurting soon. I've worked with Down's children and adults before and they are such sweet people.

Congrats on the birth of your daughter! If you haven't already, you might like to check out Kelle Hampton's blog (enjoying the small things). She blogged a lot about DS after her second daughter turned out to have it, and her blog got a lot of media attention. Now, she just blogs a lot about family life in general, but there are tons of cute pictures and some Down Syndrome info thrown in. Just Google her and you'd find the links. Hope it's helpful for you.

Yayyyyy congrats!!!! Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to keep the epi going lol. Also, I used to watch a little boy with Down's. He's the funniest, sweetest kid ever. He was fascinated with belly buttons and loved dancing to Blue's Clues! He's 14 now and blushes every time he sees a pretty girl. =) 

Oh, and Victoria Rose is a beautiful name!

Congratulations!

There's a wonderful bumpie on my BMB (Feb. 2012 Moms) who happens to have a little angel with Down's. Her SN is goldenleaves, and she keeps an amazing blog.
