Hysteroscopy Dilemma...

I need your advice, ladies! So my new RE did a saline sono after my failed ivf cycle and before my next cycle, to make sure everything look good in my uterus. Of course, she found a "mass" and said it had to be removed with a hysteroscopy. She thought it was probably a polyp, since they are common growths due to all the hormones from the ivf meds. Well, i will spare you the details, but i am almost positive the blob came out. When i explained it to her, she agreed that it was most likely scar tissue and came out in my lining. She said there is no way to know without either doing another sono or going in for the hysteroscopy. My first thought was "why would i have a surgery if there is nothing there anymore?" her recommendation was to do the surgery, b/c even if the mass is gone, she can clean out my ute and make it good as new, giving the embryos the best chance for implantation. She said it is like a facial for the uterus. So, would you have another easy saline sono to make sure it was gone or get put under for surgery, when there might not be anything there to remove? Oh, and how bad is a hysteroscopy? TIA

I had one last February for a polyp and will have another one in December. There not bad at all. If it was me I would let them do the surgery make everything sparkly again and give your nuggets the best shot possible.

Interesting analogy: "a facial for the uterus."  Never heard that one before!  But I have heard "tilling the soil."

I had hysteroscopy twice in the office and once in the OR with anesthesia.  It is not a difficult procedure.

It might be worth doing to get things ready for good implantation (I do think she's probably right about that), but if you want to go less invasive, you could opt for another saline sonogram.

I would go ahead with the Hysteroscopy, if it gives them a better chance I think it's worth it. I'm going in for mine soon and I love that your doc said it's like a facial for the ute! Gives me hope!

Well, the vote is unanimous, so I am going to go for it and enjoy a "facial" for my ute! Thanks for the advice!

I would just do the hysteroscopy so she can check and make sure everything is all smooth and ready for baby. I had it done, it is an in and out procedure, honestly not paintful. A little cramping, nothing tylenol can't take care of. Best wishes!

I just had a hysteroscopy on the 19th. I did not have any polyps or any real cause for concern, but my RE wanted to do it because I only have 1 embie and will be doling a FET this cycle. He said it's just for good measure to clean everything out and give my embie the best chance of implanting.

I was really nervous about it too but honestly it was not bad at all. I felt fine after the anesthesia wore off. I didn't even have any cramping or anything. I went to work the next day with no issue, but I feel like I could've even gone in on the day of the procedure after I took a nap. If I were you I would do it just for peace of mind. Good Luck.
