I hope this is MUD...

Whether your baby has to wear a brace or not, I'm sure you'll love him or her just the same. Best of luck.

Assuming this isn't MUD....I would take this with a grain of salt. While your baby will need to wear leg braces for the first few years, this is at least treatable and your baby will go on to live a happy normal life.

This sounds like MUD... but... I was born with my foot pushed up against my leg and to the side and I wore a boot that adjusted on the bottom for the first year of life. I turned out fine. I started walking at 8 months and started on my high school basketball team all four years.  You would never be able to tell by looking at me now.  And what do you mean by you don't want to bring him home 'like that'?? Thank god my mom didn't have this attitude....

If this isn't a mud I'm going to assume that you don't want to bring him home like that because you don't want anything to be wrong with your child.  Obviously, I can understand that you would be upset that something is wrong with your child but thankfully it is totally treatable and not going to affect the rest of your sons life.  He probably won't even remember anything about it.

I say do not stress over it as something that is unbearable. It's something that hopefully can be fixed over time. Just embrace it and start preparing yourself now by looking into it and what you will need and need to do to help baby.

Obviously anything "wrong" with your baby is not something you want to hear. But think of the good things your baby is healthy and will be your bundle of joy no matter what.

Best of luck and lots of hugs!

On the off chance that this isn't MUD, do not make a big deal out of this.  My sister had a mild club foot when she was born, she just needed an outpatient procedure and a cast and then special shoes for a few months.  She doesn't even remember any of it, as it was corrected before she was even a year old.

If this is MUD, please at least use correct spelling and grammar.

This!

MH was born with 2 clubbed feet...he wore casts for a year, but ultimatly have to have surgery on both of his feet. He is 35 now and they look like everyone else's feet. Doctors can do so much now. I really wouldn't be too concerned if your baby is otherwise healthy. I actually think that helped MH grow up to be so happy-go-lucky and fun loving. He is the most positive person I know.

I didn't read this as an ugly thing: "I don't want him if he has a brace and club foot..."

I read it more like, "It will break my heart to see my baby have to start out life struggling with a physical ailment."

OR it could be MUD.

I have a younger sister born with a club foot.  It really wasn't that big of an issue, she was an active baby and learned to walk on time....grew up to be quite athletic.

Try not to stress too much.

If this is not a MUD post, Im sorry you got the news, no mother wants anything to be wrong with their baby. I have a friend who has a nephew that was born with both club feet. He is 3 or 4 now and is doing great!

And remember it could be much worse, there are some people who won't bring their babies home. My DD has Down syndrome and while I was very sad at the diagnosis after she was born she had some serious health problems and the Ds was nothing to me anymore. You will feel this way too!

I so hope this is the MUD of a nutjob.

In the rare case that it's not, every mom wants their baby to be healthy and perfect. A clubbed foot can be corrected with the proper care. Be thankful and good luck.

Club feet can easily be corrected - Kristi Yamaguchi, gold medal Olympic skater, was born with club feet.

If this is about you not wanting to deal with having a child with a mild disability, perhaps you should look into adoption. There are lots of families who would love to have a child, disability or not.

I, myself, was born with a club foot.  I had surgery at 6 months old to correct it.  I never had to wear a brace.  Yes, I do STILL have a surgery scar, but other than that, it did not affect my life AT ALL! I walk totally fine, none of my developmental milestones were late, I danced all through school, etc.  It is TOTALLY reasonable to be upset about this. No one ever would have known if I didn't tell them. My mother considered it a tragedy when I was born like that.  Anyone who judges you for feeling that way has obviously never been in this type of situation.  When something like this happens, parents go through a kind of grieving process.  In the end, you'll come out accepting the situation and realize that there are solutions and everything will be OK.  Deep breaths. :)

Seriously?? You don't want to bring home a baby "like that." I really really hope that this is mud too. Just in case it is not. I would much rather bring home a "baby like that" than not bring home a baby at all because they died in utero.Confused

IF your baby is born with clubfoot, check out this website about the Ponseti Method. I work at an organization that raises money for the Ponseti Method and it's amazing what trained doctors and nurses can do for children born with clubfoot. Hope this helps!
