Very easily out of breath...?!

Good morning! =)

I have realized since I've become pregnant I have become more out of breath with the littlest of activities. I'm 8 weeks 3 days. I work at a company where sometimes there is a lot of running around to be done. I did quit smoking (right when I found out I was pregnant) could that have anything to do with it? I mean I walk up a flight of stairs and I'm so out of breath and my heart is beating really fast? It almost feels like I'm having an Asthma attack. I mean walking to and from my car into work also makes me extremely out of breath. Is this normal?

Thanks so much for all your help! =)

Usually being out of breath starts in second trimester if its because of baby. You are too early for that.

I am going to say that yes, quitting smoking will cause you to be breathless as your lungs adjust to being smoke free.

My husband & I have a walking route that we walked before I was pregnant that was almost 3.5-4 miles. In my first trimester, I made it 1 mile & was out of breath & tired! I talked to my doctors nurse & she said that it's completely normal since your body is pumping more blood for the baby.

My resting heart rate is usually between 60-65 bpm. Now that I'm pregnant, it's around 80 bpm! So yes, it's normal. If you feel like it's an issue, I would call your doctor- as in any other concerns you might have! Good luck!

I know exactly how you feel! I have been diagnosed with chronic anemia all my childhood to now and I think that adds to my shortness of breath along with being preggy.

Hope it gets better for you!

Being out of breath can start in the first trimester, mainly because your body is working differently already. It has nothing to do with the baby, or position of baby ... That's different and will get worse the bigger baby gets.

The combination of being pregnant and quitting smoking can make it worse though, as it does take your lungs to adjust. If it gets to be more than just uncomfortable though, I would talk to your doctor. Good luck!

Holy heck, we're pregnant again! Please stay here with us little Otter.

We have a heartbeat! 138 beats per minute and measuring right on track. Ultrasound 11/7/12 showed heartbeat in the 160s. Negative MaterniT21 results ... Found out at Anatomy Scan we're Team Blue!

I'm the same.  Walking up stairs gets me out of breath.  Embarrassing!  One of the work gals commented today, "wow that took you a while to get up here".

Yes!!!  It can be something as simple as walking up the stairs and I am huffing and puffing.  For someone who exercises regularly its very frustrating!!

I noticed yesterday that I got super winded and out of breath after climbing the stairs at work (my office is upstairs and I go up and down repeadtedly throughout the day), it was very unusual. I took a test last night and it was positive and I haven't even missed my period or had any other symptoms! So crazy

I've found that I get out of breath more easily (I live in a 3rd-floor walk-up) - I'm breathing heavily by the time I get up to my apartment. That said, I've noticed it more in conjunction with lightheadedness or sudden exertion - if I just go running or something, it's not really a problem.

I carried in some groceries the other day. Only like 5 bags, up a flight of stairs and then down (just how our apartment works). I literally was out of breath like I ran 2 miles, it was terrible.
