If your LN is an animal I would strongly advise against River. It would sound very naturely and like the name of a river and not a person.
EDIT: I would also wonder if you were going with a nature theme with the MN Hunter.

This exactly.
SS
River is NMS and I'm so over Jackson/Jax/Jaxon, etc.
Edit: if your last name is Wolf, please, please don't name your kid River.
If your last name is a wild animal I agree with not using River, and I also think Hunter is a bit odd for the MN. So despite the popularity of Jackson, that gets my vote and I would use Jackson Gray lastname.
They are all NMS, but I would avoid the pairing of River Wolf and __ Hunter Wolf. I'd use Jackson Grayland even though it is a bit of a mouthful.
My cousin has a tree FN and a flower LN and it has been a challenge at times because of it.
River Greyland Wolf/Fox/Bear sound like you are describing a type of animal,
"See that son? It's called the River Greyland Bear, it's know for its two heads and purple teeth"
Sick of Jackson, but it is the better option.

This made me LOL!
ITA with all of this though.
