Pre Baby Getaway

So, my MIL suggested we take a getaway before the babies come.  She offered to watch LO while we go.  The only problem is I can't figure out what we should do (spa retreat seems like the only option and I think DH would rather not do that).  Since I'm having twins, I'm getting bigger fast so we can't wait too long.  I'm in the D.C. Metro area.  Any suggestions on where to go or what to do?

What's your budget? Are you staying in town or going out of town?

It really depends on your budget.  My husband and I did a European road-trip for our pre-baby getaway.  I think that would be a tough one to do with a baby.  I would think you should do something that you wouldn't be able to do as easily with a little one.

Like PPs said it really depends on your budget.  We're headed to the Dominican Republic for 10 days (but we don't have any other kids to worry about being away from).  I'm originally from the DC area so if you're looking for something close by  you should try The Inn at Little Washington or Keswick Hall (both in VA).  Both are highly regarded, especially the dining at The Inn.  Winter may mean there is less to do but sometimes doing nothing is the best vacation ever.

Hubby and I are looking at 5 day cruises out of Ft Lauderdale or Mia.  We actually found one on royal caribbean for $399 a person for a balcomy room.  Inside rooms are even cheaper.

Carnival has some good deals too right now.  And for you being from up north, anywhere these cruises go will be warm for you.  We are in South Florida so we have to cruise as far south as possible for it to be warm for us :)

We don't normally cruise as we like to sctually explore the places we visit but being preggies, I don't want to do the hiking and exploring.  I want to sit pool side and just relax.  This way we aren't renting cars and there are so many things to do on a cruise that you'll never get bored.
