CD59: Time to call the Doc?/Provera Experience

I know it's the general rule to call the Dr. after 60 days with no period.

I've been charting, no sign of ovulation.

After early (5w) m/c on October 2nd I had blood work done and my levels went back to normal within a week.  I was told I was good to go.

I had a cycle like this over the summer for the first time ever, it lasted 89 days.  When I went in after CD60 that time my doctor told me to wait another 30 days before she gave me meds (Provera?) to start my period.  I wasn't TTC then, just off BCP.

Do you think she would tell me wait again or because of the m/c and actively TTC she would give me something now?

I'm not even sure I WANT to take something.  I stopped taking BCP almost a year ago because I was tired of pumping my body full of medication/fake hormones.

Anyone have experience with Provera?  Is that what they always prescribe? Side effects?

Im sorry for your loss. I don't honestly know if she would give you something now or have you wait it out. I know on another thread yesterday or today sorry mobile bumping and can't link that someone said itz the unopposed hormones that keep you from getting your period and those can have some harmful side effects but thats something you'd have to weih and discuss with your doctor.
I haven't personally taken progesterone so i don't know a ton about it. I have seen many who have used it say though that since it is progesterone it will cause your temps to go up and that might fake FF out into giving you false crosshairs, so just be aware of that.
Good luck.

Thanks.

I think I will call tomorrow and see what they say.  They're usually pretty good at answering questions without a proper appointment.  I'll see if they think I should come in or not.

I'm definitely worried about the side effects of Provera, but I also don't want to wait this out for another month.  Getting impatient.

However, I'm the kind of person who will get all the weird side effects no one else does.  Like, insomnia from anti-biotics.

I'm not sure what your Dr. will do, but I took Provera this summer after a 70-something day cycle (without ovulation of course).  My period came a few days after taking the medication and I had absolutely no noticeable side effects.  My period was lighter than normal, but every other symptom was the same as each month.  I know everyone's different, but that was my experience.  good luck!

I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't know why the dr. would or wouldn't give you something. Mine was always fine w/ giving me provera at 60 days. I've needed it twice and both times I took it for 10 days, w/ no side effects and got bleeding 2 days after my last pill.

You don't have to go in if you don't want to OR if you don't think your doc would do anything.  My cycle before this one was 80 days, with ovulation at 68 days.  It's your decision to call and to go in.

That said, I think a one-round dose of Provera is different than BCP, so I wouldn't have problems taking it to jump start a cycle, but only you can determine that for yourself.

Good to know you didn't have any side effects.  Thanks for the input.

I'm definitely going to call tomorrow and see what they say.

Ready for this cycle to end!

Really sorry for your loss.  The only side effects that I have experienced with Provera is sore boobs (just slightly) and sleepiness.  I took it right before going to bed and was fine.  Good luck with everything!

I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't know what the doc will say but I do think it would be a good idea for you to call.  I am currently taking Provera for the first time and wish I had called right at 60 days (I am currently on CD105). I delayed calling because I didn't really want to take anything either and was hoping AF would come naturally. I called once I felt I couldn't wait any longer and then had to wait 2 1/2 weeks for the actual appt!  It's been a very long month and I don't want you to go through that too if you can avoid it.

As for side effects - slightly sore boobs and some nausea. It's better when I take it before bed.

Good luck!

First, sorry for your loss.

I've taken Provera three times. All three times were because my hormones were out of wack coming off of BCP. I didn't have any noticeable side effects the first two times I took it (so far as I can remember... it was 9 years ago). I took it most recently just over a month ago and the only side effects were trouble sleeping and a lighter period. Also had some light bleeding for a couple days about a week after coming off of my period. For what it's worth, it appears that I did ovulate this cycle after taking it.

 Good luck!
