x rays/phemonia

Last night I was rushed to the emergency room because I had chest pains and couldn't breath. Since I was turning blue they just threw a protective sheet over my midsection. Does anyone know just how well those sheets work? Anyone else have to have an xray? I am worried...I don't know how bad xrays or phemonia will affect baby. Any advice? I am calling doctor in the am to ask. It just has been driving me insane and I feel guilty.

I had an x-ray of my hip when I was early in pregnancy with DD - probably around 4 weeks. She turned out just fine :) Relax and take care of yourself!

Oh good! I know I worried about it (I didn't know I was pregnant when the x-ray happened) and called my doctor worried when I got my BFP a few days later. She really didn't think it was a big deal, and that was with a direct hit of my uterus!

Well then I am very happy for you! I am sure now things will be okay. Thank you!!! I was going insane and can't really speak well right now due to my lungs...doctor wouldn't really be able to understand me much anyway if I called to ask.

Hi, I am an Xray tech and I know that those sheilds will protect you.  However radiation in the first few weeks is the time you do not want Xrays.  You and baby will be fine.  I stay in the rooms and hold sometimes because I work at a pediatric hospital.  I did so the entire time with both of my previous pregnancies and both of them are perfect!  Dont worry :)

This. I'm an Xray tech as well. It is true that in the beginning of the pregnancy you should really avoid unnessecary radiation. But it sounds like it was needed in your case and you were protected by a lead shield, so chances are you have nothing to worry about.
