Feedback on short list for baby boy

Hi everyone! Been lurking for a while, wanted some feedback on DH's and my short list for our son, who's due in January.

We've narrowed it down to eight names. We're pretty split right now. Ideally, we'd like to have two or three final options going into DS's birth, and then decide which he is most like after he's finally here.

I'd love some honest feedback on these names, and some suggestions for FN/MN combinations if you think of any:

Brian

William, NN Will

Felix

Adam

Nathaniel, NN Nate

James, NN Jamie

Tristan

Stephen

Brian -- I have never been a fan of this name.  It's just nms.

William, NN Will -- Like it

Felix -- I like this.  It's unconventional and quirky but still a real name.

Adam -- Not a favorite of mine, but a good, solid name.

Nathaniel, NN Nate -- Dislike Nate as a nn.

James, NN Jamie -- Jamie is more often a girl's name these days.  Like James.

Tristan -- This is a guilty pleasure name for me, but my DH was not on board.  I have to admit, it's a little fruity.

Stephen -- this was on my short list too, but we went with another name because I had dated a Stephen a short time before DH and I got together and we still had many friends in common. This is my favorite on your list.

 

For fn-mn combos, I like:

Felix Michael

Stephen James 

Tristan Roger

My favorites are William, Nathaniel, and Felix.

Adam is nice too.

Stephen is fine, but it seems dated to me. I grew up with so many Stephens/Stevens/Steves.

I dislike Tristan and Brian.

My favorites from your list are William, Felix, Nathaniel, and James. All four would work as FN/MN combos. Brian and Tristan seem outdated to me.

Brian - FIL's name, I like it but it sounds dated.

William, NN Will - Really like it

Felix - NMS, but works great for other people

Adam - Like it

Nathaniel, NN Nate - Love it

James, NN Jamie - Good solid name, I agree with pp that Jamie is used more as a girls name these days, but I think it still works for boys.

Tristan - NMS

Stephen - Like, but I prefer Steven

I like Felix A LOT...that's my favorite on your list.  I also like Nathan/iel and William.  I do not like Tristan.

I really like Felix. You also can't go wrong with William or James. Felix James is my favorite.
dx homozygous for 3 thrombophilias, poor egg quality, and most likely autoimmune problem. Anything I'm missing?
5 miscarriages, 1 exception DS born 4/10

Brian... This is my son's mn. TBH I probably would not have chosen it if it was not a family name, but i have grown to love it. We like to use names from literature, mythology, and history, so I love that he shares a name with legendary Irish king Brian Boru.
William, NN Will... Nice, but very popular
Felix... Just ok for me. Sounds a bit priggish to me though.
Adam... Like a lot
Nathaniel, NN Nate... Love
James, NN Jamie... I love the nn Jamie
Tristan... Love
Stephen... Just okay for me.

My favorites are William and James (not a fan of the nn Jamie, though). William James and James William both work, IMO.

I like Nathaniel, not sure how I feel about Nate. I like Nathaniel James.

I actually really like Tristan even though it's not the style of name I usually prefer. Reminds me of Brad Pitt in "Legends of the Fall."

My favorite FN/MN suggestion so far is Nathaniel James. The "Jamie" nickname was DH's idea. He wants to use it interchangeably with "James."

I was a bit surprised to see so much "outdated" comments about Brian. There was a little Brian on the street we used to live on, and I wasn't aware it had been trendy at any point in the past.
