haha don't let it get to ya, love. Really unique names are not everyone's style and they're not afraid to tell you what they think about them. That said, I'm not creative at all when it comes to unique names.. I'm part of the Allyson, Aubrey, and Natalie crowd. Ally and Aubrey are my DDs.. Natalie is the name we picked if this LO is a girl.

Brinley Sky is about as creative as I've gotten and I wouldn't use it. lol

If you are expecting names similar to the ones you posted on your BMB, it won't happen here. Just a heads up.

That said, their are a lot of great uncommon names out there. What are some names you like?

Alethea, Felicity, Carys, Bridget, Isadora, Colette, Vera

Felix, Alasdair, Lucian, Abram, Ellis

EYA: I do love Niamh. I didn't see that, I have yet to read the actual post (just glanced at the names). I agree with below post, formatting was a small part of the issue, I couldn't really tell what you were trying to post.

Oct 2013 BMB: May Siggy Challege | Celebrities Eating Food | JGL

Miles (6) | Fiona (3.5) | Ian (1) | "Clementine" (Oct 2013)

Honestly, I think the biggest problem with your original post was formatting.

I actually really like Niamh (I worked with a Niamh before) and if you're okay with having to pronounce it, I'm all for it.  (because I'm sure most people won't get if off the bat)

I also don't mind Nike, and while I'm not a huge fan of Lyric, I could see it working.

Bliss, Karma, and Destiny do seem to be trying too hard though, and I don't view them as especially unique.  I also think giving a child a name that is also a noun/state of being can be a little hard for them to live up to.

Other names that might work for you:

Aoifa (means beauty)

Hero (another mythological name)

Isolde (another mythological name)

I have not checked out the other thread, but I can guess. I just wanted to say that you can get a unique name without doing something made up and childish. 5littlebears has lots of good examples. Things like flower names or word names are great ways to get a great unique name without being yoo-neek.

I will also plug nameberry, because I think there lists are fantastic at suggesting names I may not have thought of. http://nameberry.com/lists/category/cool-names

I'm getting so big!

I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.

I saw the posts on the June board.  Not nice.  I've always liked unique names, but doubt I will go with them as I'm traditional at heart.  I do have some advice for you.  If you go with a name that is also a word look it up in a dictionary as well as a name site.  I'm a teacher and you would be shocked at some of the names I have come across.  If the mothers had looked up the name in a dictionary I am sure they would never have used those names.  So choose something you love, but but sure to do your research on all the meanings of the name / word.   Good luck!

I'm glad you got some good ideas here. It really pisses me off when people mock ethnic names, which came up later in your thread. Whoever threw out the word ghetto deserves a kick in the rear.

I was planning on naming my daughter (if i had on) Kai it means the sea...and my baby boy's middle name is Kye..

About your other post...I couldn't stand reading it. I hate when people deem names as stripper names. The principle at my old school name was LaDasia Shawnte. Most professional woman I've ever met in my life.

I know there are a lot of people that think unique names are crazy, but I don't think they are bad unless you spell them crazy. Not everyone likes common names, perfectly fine.

I like the PP suggestion of Aoife. I saw it online and had to look up the pronunciation and loved it!
