New Here: Fatigue or Excuse to be lazy?

Hi, I'm new here.  I am 6 wks, 6 days pregnant (according to my app).  My husband and I have known for almost 3 weeks, but we haven't told anyone.  We are waiting until Christmas to tell our families.  After that, we'll tell close friends and wait til Valentine's Day to tell the world.  As a result of my choice, I don't have anyone to talk to, commiserate with, and ask questions to, so I'm hoping you ladies can help me out.

Ever since I found out (and actually for probably a week before I knew), I've been so exhausted!  I can't decide if I truly am that fatigued or if I'm just using my new found status as an excuse to be lazy.  My husband has been great and helping around the house and in the kitchen, but I feel bad.  If I got up and moving, I'd probably feel better, but I can't motivate myself to do that most nights.  I work in disaster assistance, so I've been working 9 hour days, 6 days a week for the last 2 weeks and prior to that, it was 10-13 hour days for 20 days straight!

I guess after typing all that out, it makes sense that I would be tired, but I was hoping to get other people's thoughts/ experiences.  This is my first pregnancy and I haven't even had my appt yet (it's on Tuesday), so I'm trying to be relaxed about things and do a lot of reading, but there's nothing like getting other people's feedback.

Thanks and I already feel better now that I've "talked" to someone (you guys)!

Dude, first trimester fatigue is nothing to sniff at. I feel like I've been steam rolled a lot of the time. Working disaster assistance would make me feel even more exhausted. Take the time now (if you have no other children at home) to take your naps and such. Its normal to feel tired as heck.

The fatigue is real. Be thankful you have a sympathetic husband. When I was pregnant with DS, MH was convinced I was making it up because I couldn't possibly be that tired. I've never felt so vindicated as the day my NP told him he was wrong.

Fatigue is a very common symptom in the first trimester and is caused by hormonal changes. For normally heavy coffee drinkers, it's a double whammy. Only you know if your fatigue is real or not. Not everyone experiences it--although most do. There have been some days in the past few weeks where I could barely keep my eyes open or my head off the desk at the office.

The fatigue is real and it can really get the best of you.  I found out that we were expecting at about 4 weeks and the fatigue set in about a week later.  Before the pregnancy, I had a lot of energy - I had a whole routine from when I'd wake up to when I'd go to sleep at night, and I was motivated to wake up in the morning.  I've been struggling a lot because not only has the fatigue hit me hard, I was layed off from my job so every day I'm having trouble finding the motivation to get done what needs to get done around the house.  But now that I'm approaching my 11th week, I'm noticing a big boost in my energy!  And I've started feeling like my old self again!  But I'll tell you, today I was taken back at how worn out I got just doing laundry...so even with the fatigue subsiding, it's still hitting me hard!  But it's all good, and will be worth all of it in the end :)

Like you, I am almost 7 weeks and not telling the world until after 1st tri. The fatigue is no joke though. You are most definitely not alone. My morning sickness also started this week. I feel so awful. I am either nauseous tired or both. Hang in there though. It's what I tell myself. A baby is growing. :

You are sooooo not alone! Fatigue is my major symptom followed by nausea. You're so my hero though because I couldn't IMAGINE working that many hours! I work out of my home and car and since about 5.5 weeks I've been napping in the car and/or coming home early.

Dude, don't feel bad about being exhausted and having him help out more. You're growing a human being.

Plus, he lives and eats in that house too.

haha I've been wondering the same thing lately :P I've been blaming it on the fatigue...but part of me is probably being lazy too. ugh. but I have NO motivation whatsoever.

The fatigue is overwhelming! I was very surprised how debilitating it is! The worst is being at work, all I want to do is lay around and pick out baby stuff and daydream.

DH is very supportive so when I get home I can pretty much just go to bed (at around 7pm lol) and I don't get any grief for the state of the house or if dinner is going to happen. I do feel like a huge fat lazy blob however. But you can only do the best you can do, growing a human and staying rested is more important than the dishes right now :-)

I went to bed at 7:30 last night and that was after I took a 2 hour nap. (Thank God DD took a nap!)

I work a regular 8-hour desk job but by the time I get home all I want to do is crash on the couch and maybe watch TV. Yesterday I had to attend a lecture and it was hard to keep my eyes open while listening!
