bewilderingstar:KMM - How is with the three dogs and two cats and a LO? We have the same amount of animals. Were you nervous when you brought home LO? How did the gang react?
I hear dogs and cats know when their human mama is preggo. Maybe it won't be a surprise when we bring a baby human home with us one day.. but I'm still nervous. Haha
We only had Shadow when we brought DD home. We were living with H's parents at the time trying to save up money to get our own place when we got pregnant. Oops. Shadow has been great with her from day 1, the minute she got home from the hospital, she got welcomed with a big ole' bath from him.
Speed and Lady were still living at my parents' house when she was born and for a year afterward until we finally moved this past June. When I visited, Lady wanted nothing to do with her, and even when we first moved in, Lady was pretty intolerant of her. Now, Lady sees her as a food source and loves it haha. Speed just runs from her, for the most part, if he sees her coming his way.
Lily was her b-day present and the two are best buds and get into lots of trouble together. Enough said there.
Kaylee we just got about 2 months ago, and isn't as good as Shadow with her, but is still very good. Kaylee is more flighty and doesn't like all the touchy-feely of DD, whereas DD can crawl all over Shadow (she uses him as a step to get into the couch) and he couldn't care less. We also have another cat, Peaches, and she keeps to herself. But everyone lives here harmoniously. I think having them around kids before-hand helps, though. All of our animals were around other kids previously in their lives, so we had a pretty good idea of how they would react.
ETA: I also took DD with me to see how Kaylee would react to her when I picked her up, and she also welcomed Cassi with big kisses. The woman said she was good with kids, but I had to see it myself before bringing her home.
