Okay ladies give me your thoughts!

I love the name Charlotte. It is actually on DH and I's list. Along with Piper which we are leaning towards but still not decided. I want to go with Charlotte Pearl after my great grandma. DH loves the name Shirley, and use Peal as the middle name.

What is your thoughts on the name Shirley? Please be honest. TIA

I want to like it, I really do.  I love the show "Laverne and Shirley".  But...I just can't get behind it, especially if you both agree on Charlotte.

I personally don't like it. My mom had a cousin Shirley who was older and strange so I don't have the best association.

Charlotte Pearl is a beautiful name and I like Piper but dont love it

Shirley is a totally normal name I wouldn't side eye, I'd just think you had horrible taste in names!  I prefer Charlotte over Piper, too.

There are some "old school" names that are making a comeback - think Pearl, think Hazel, etc., but I don't think Shirley will ever be one of those (but, hey, I could be wrong!).  I don't like it. But, I LOVE Charlotte!

It's kind of cute, in its own little quirky, vintage way.

BUT, I don't think that it goes with your boys' names very well at all. Charlotte or Piper would go way better IMO. Or you could use Shirley as a MN - Piper Shirley maybe?

Shirley is my grandmother's name... So.. No, I would not choose it. If you both agree with Charlotte, why not just use that?

I'm in the minority here and have always liked Shirley. I think it's adorable and it has been on my list for a while. I'm not crazy about Shirley Pearl though. I can't put my finger on exactly why—it just doesn't look or sound right to me.

I like it. I've only known one and she is in her 50s so I don't think of it as an old lady name. I like Charlotte more, but if I met a baby named Shirley I'd smile.

Looking at the data it seems that Shirley was a trendy star in the middle of the century.  So it feels really time stamped for that reason.  If it were after family I think it would be a nice middle name, otherwise it needs to be crossed off that list.

I love old lady names but there is just something about Shirley that isn't cute. Charlotte is lovely though, go with that!
