I'm back - re-intro & a new IVF cycle starting

Hi there - I was on this board earlier in the year as I was doing IUIs, and ultimately an IVF cycle. Since then, the transfer of the IVF cycle was canceled, all embryos were frozen and we went on to do two FETs that both failed. Also, since then, DH has had a gallbladder surgery, and I got a new job that moved us to Seattle 2000 miles away from home. 

Now that we'e getting more settled here in Seattle, DH and I decided to give IVF another go while I still have some IF insurance coverage through my old employer. 

My previous IVF cycle was an antagonist protocol. The transfer of the IVF cycle was essentially canceled because my lining started to change and the dr. didn't think it would be a good idea to transfer. 

This new doctor reviewed my files and thinks that I must have ovulated through the supression meds. So, the new protocol is the long lupron approach. I started BCPs yesterday.

Anyone do this protocol? What meds did you take? What kind of side effects did you have from the meds you were on?

Hi again! I think I remember you from your pic at the bottom:-) I did the long lupron approach last month for my first ivf. That is the protocol my RE almost always uses first. At CD 3 we start bcps (which she has you in for a minimum of 2 weeks), then  You are on 10 units of lupron daily for a week or so before starting stims, then the lupron goes down to 5 units when stims started. My stims were bravelle and menopur, 75 and 150, respectively at night. I really only had side effects from lupron, which was a consistent dull headache for the entire time. 

Me: 35, DH: 36, ttc: 3+ years, dx: unknown
10/11: after 2 years, saw a RE, FSH 5.4
11/11: BFP! (surprise after thyroid med & normal hsg),
12/11: missed m/c after 7 week u/s,
1/12: D&C,
6/12 IUI #1: clomid, 5 mature follicles, excellent sperm,= BFN,
7/12: IUI #2: clomid, 3 mature follicles, excellent sperm= BFN,
8/12: IUi #3: clomid, 5 follicles, = BFP!, C/P
10/12 IVF #1: FSH 5.4, estradiol AFC: 14, long Lupron 150/bravelle75,5R/5M/4F, all 4 made it to 5dt, 1 blast and 1 8 cell transferred. No frosties. BFN
IVF #2: AFC 21, MD lupron 12/25, 225bravelle/150men, 4R/4M/3F, 5dt of 1 blast BFN
IVF #3: natural start antagon, starting 3/30, ER 4/11, 12R,11M,10F

One of my IVF cycles at SRM was Long lupron.  This protocol supressed me too much and I had the worst quality eggs.  We've since moved on with a new RE / New clinic and we're trying the Micro dose lupron flare protocol. 

My complaints with Lupron : crazy dreams, bad headaches, metallic taste in my mouth. But, really.. that doesn't count for much :) I seem to have side effects to EVERYTHING!!!! BOO!!!!

I am doing long Lupron.  I started BCP for a week and then added 10 IU's of Lupron.  Lupron then dropped down to 5 IU's and stopped BCP.  Started stims (Follistim and Menopur) while continuing Lupron.  I have monitoring on Monday to see where I am at and to get more protocol.  I realy haven't had many side effects at all.  I hope things are working!  Good luck!

I did a long Lupron protocol, similar to what other's have said, but Gonal F for stimming.  I stimmed super fast, got a ton of follies and my E2 was through the roof, so after a week of stims, we coasted for a few days to let the E2 chill out.  We were slightly disappointed with the number of eggs retrieved vs number of follies measured, but my details are in my siggy.

I had minimal physical side effects, but was more emotional (tearful) than usual.

My whole cycle, from CD1 of my period to now (tomorrow will be the end of my 2ww) was 49 days.

Hello there!!!  I was a July sparkler for awhile before that cycle got cancelled so I remember you!!!!  Welcome back!!!  

That cancelled cycle was the antagonist protocol I believe...it was Follistim 75iu and Menopur 150iu with Ganirelix starting the 5th day. Now I've been on the microdose lupron flare....no bcp, MDL twice a day starting same night as stims (Follistim 300iu and Menopur 150iu) and continuing right up until the trigger. It seems to be working better although this round we're adding in Saizen, a growth hormone.

So far the only bad side effects are from the progesterone....I get super tired and cranky, LOL

Ditto on the welcome to Seattle! I'm in the midst of a donor egg cycle with SRM and am on a long Lupron protocol. I did 10 units until confirmed suppression and 5 units daily since. I'm not using my eggs, but still had to prep myself as if in order to be ready for our ET late this week or early next! I didn't have any side effects from the Lupron at all that I noticed. More from the Vivelle patches :)  Any Seattle questions feel free to PM me as well!

Sept 2012: Both fallopian tubes removed due to blockage

Mar 15 2013: Missed miscarriage at 15w4d(discovered at 16w1d via home Doppler).
Mar 22 2013: D&E. Tests showed death due to (fluke) blood clot in umbilical cord. :( Genetics all good.
May 24 2013: Hysterscopy to remove uterine adhesion post D&E.
We have three frosties. Hoping for FET in late July 2013!
We live in Seattle and used SRM for our Donor Egg IVF cycle.

Hi and welcome back. I remember you but I was mostly lurking back then, I think, so I'm not sure you'll remember me. I did the long Lupron and, as people have said, the headaches were not fun. Other than that, I didn't have much in the way of side effects from the meds. Obviously you have your ovaries swollen to the size of casaba melons, but that's normal-ish, right?

TTC #1 for about 3.5 years
ME: 37, PCO, immune issues?, teflon uterus (my added diagnosis)
HIM: 38, Perfect. (Showoff.)
Month before starting Clomid, spontaneous pregnancy. m/c at 7 weeks and D&C.
Four months of Clomid, one IUI, with Intralipid each cycle: BFNs all
IVF 1.0 July 2012 -- Lupron, bravelle, menopur, estrogen, progesterone supps, intralipid. 14 ER, 14 fertilized, 1 blast transferred, 2 on ice. BFN
FET 1.1 -- 10/2, transferred our 2 blasts. Lupron, PIO, estrogen, baby aspirin, prednisone. BFN.
IVF 2.0 December 2012 -- Bravelle, Menopur, Ganirelix, Prednisone, Metformin, estrogen, progesterone supps. 22 eggs retrieved on 12/14, 17 mature, 15 fertilized. OHSS anticipated so ET cancelled. 3 embryos frozen.
Broke up with old RE. Moving on to new dude. Maybe the change of scenery will be just the trick for our frosties. On BCPs for possible April FET.
