Then after reading your post I went through these: Beet? No, can't be right. Maybe it's you-neek for Bette? Maybe it's like beautiful? No, no u. And then I settled on Bee-TA. I'm trying to get behindthename to load because I'm curious after reading the replies it seems to be a legit non-English name.
Well, since BTN wouldn't load I just googled it and found an entry on Wikipedia and listened to the pronunciation. Bee-ah-tu is what it sounded like to me. Really wouldn't have guessed an "oo" ending.

ETA: I figured it out. The person for the Wikipedia entry's last name started with a U, so that was the "oo" sound I was hearing and it's a very subtle "te/ta" sound. And I finally got BTN to load backing that up. It's actually related to the Latin word beatus (think Beatitudes from the Bible), which is pretty neat in my book.
