laurenhankey:We went through a similar issue when I went back to work. I was on 2nd shift and DH was on first shift. He got off at 4 pm and had the LO until midnight when I got home. I showed him everything I did for LO to soothe her and nothing helped. I finally realized that he needed to find his own methods for soothing her. Daddies have their own special way of bonding w/ LO's so he needs to find his. What sort of things has he tried to soothe him? Rocking, swaddling, paci, sidehold (this works GREAT) - a hold across your belly while standing. Baby is belly to belly with you or DH, one arm under neck/supporting head and the other inbetween legs/supporting legs and swaying back and forth. LO cries for a bit but falls asleep after a few mins sometimes as long as 10 mins. Also, maybe try having DH have a worn shirt of yours over his shoulder while trying to soothe so LO can smell you.
I would have to agree with PP. The things that my husband does to soothe LO don't work for me - and vice versa! He has had to come up with his own way of doing things, and does a great job.
