Paying a sitter/nanny

Looking for input on what to pay a potential nanny. 20-25 hrs/ week for 17 month old twins in our house.
We found one we like and I don't want to over or under shoot by too much. We have managed to get by with family members watching them until now.
Oh, we live in St. Louis. Pretty low/moderate cost of living. Thanks!!!

$15/hour is standard where I am, but it is HCOL.

I would say that $8-$12/hour is probably standard for a LOCL area.

Have you asked her what her expectations are? I would at least start with that so that she is not being under/overpaid.

Going rate here is $12-14/hr for a sitter. I think for a nanny it would be minimum $450-500 week for 40 hours.  I live in a MCOL area in NC.

MCOL here and we pay $10-12 per hour.

EDIT:  That's for one kid.  2-3 kids would easily be $15-20 per hour.
