It's spam - sort of. The contributor (this Shauna person) earns a small referral fee if anyone clicks the ads on any of her pages, like a blog owner would. (See wikipedia entry for Squidoo.)
She / he / it probably creates dozens of pages, tries to get higher in google search results (using traffic from message boards among other things), and hopes to make a few bucks sitting at the computer. It's not a scam exactly, but it is an advertisement disguised as info.
