Cup of water in crib?

Do you put a cup (straw or sippy) in the crib with LO at night? If so, how old was your LO when you started doing that? We've been having some sleep issues which I'm pretty sure is due to molars coming in but there have been a couple times when I went in to settle her down I brought the straw cup with me and taking a drink seemed to help a little bit. I just wonder if it might help her to have a drink available through the night. Are there any safety issues with this that I'm not thinking of?

we leave a sippy of water in the crib...we used to do it just when she was sick, but it seem to help her sleep longer because she's been sleeping better (or settling faster when she wakes at night) and she drinks like half of it over the course of the night.

generally we don't do sippy cups or food unless DD is sitting, so I do wonder if it's totally safe for her to have in there as she might walk around the crib with it, but she is in a sleep sack so it's not like she's walking around THAT much (but she can walk in it).

I think the biggest safety risk is that they'd fall and hurt their mouth...I try not to worry about it because she seems to like having the cup of water in there.

I'd be worried about choking.

I do it all the time. Since LO was like 10 months old and would only take a bottle in her crib. Now it's a straw sippy of water.

Whatever. It works. We're all happy and sleep.

DD gets a sippy of water in her crib at night and for naps. She never falls asleep drinking it, but she likes to have it when she gets up in the morning, and she'll relax drinking it while looking at books and playing with stuffed animals before her nap. I don't worry about it at all, because like I said, she never falls asleep with it in her mouth.

We don't give one, but we don't want to have to break the habit when she gets older and potty training. I have heard that drinking laying down can cause ear infections, so that'd be my main health concern.

We never did the sippy cup in the crib/bed for either girl. DD1 night trained at 3 and she now has a glass about 1/2 full in her room. But that is about it!

This. I dont even think DD drinks it half the time but it is more there as a comfort then anything.

Us too! They only drink a tad, but it's there and I know they do drink a bit and they seem to sleep better. We keep them tucked in the corner of their beds but available to them.

No cup here.  He's just play with it all night.  He gets a drink before bed and one as soon as he gets up.
