New to this

Hello everyone,

So this is my first go round TTC after a very long journey to get here. Hubby and I are trying to do everything right  to conceive in the first month.

He had a SA done recently and it showed his count was low. Is it better to try everyday or every other day? He was suffering a testiclular tosion when the SA was done ( we did not know that at that time)- could that have effected his results as well? He also abstaied for about a week prior to this.

What about Mucinex? I hear this can improve FCM. Did this work for anyone...

Desperately trying here...

Even if you drink everything under the sun and pop fifteen OTC pills that the Internet says can help get you knocked up, it may not work the first month. Or the fifth month.

Go to FF, get a basal thermometer and start charting. And, if you don't mind me asking, what was the SA for exactly?

Welcome

I actually just got done talking about something like this. If SA is low then every other day is more effective. When having sex everyday it's not giving his semen time to reproduce. As for your other questions, I'm no help. Hope you get some answers.

 Hi,

Don't mind at all. It is a very long story but to spare you the details, we basically went to get a SA done as we were curious. He is a science/numbers minded person and he wanted to see what his results were. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that is the basic premis of it.   :)

Thanks for responding!

Welcome!

Patience is key with TTC. Even if you do everything 'right' there is only a 20% chance of getting KU.

I agree with PPs as well; get a BBT and start charting.

GL to you.

I'm going to be totally blunt here because I have a feeling someone else is going to come by and say the same things.

You had a SA with no known issues, right? And you really, really want to get pregnant your first cycle of trying, right? I know this is easier said than done, but it might be a good idea to try and calm down a little. For your own sanity, really. You can pop a billion pills and prop your hips up until your boobs smack you in the face, drink fifteen kinds of teas to get the lady juices flowing and your SO can abstain until his balls turn blue but, really, don't. Get a thermometer and a FF account, read the tutorials and give charting a go when you feel ready. On the main page of this board there is a link up top for the newbies, you might want to check that out.

I'm saying this in the nicest way possible, you haven't even started yet and you are putting so much pressure on yourself that you might end up going crazy before you even POAS.

It can take a healthy couple a year to get pregnant. It is hard enough to see the BFNs when you're TTC without putting so much pressure on yourself. Do what Cruelsound said, read the newbie link, and breathe.

I agree with everything Cruel said, but wanted to add that I did take Mucinex the month that I conceived DD.  I started taking it the day after AF stopped until FF confirmed O.  I am not saying that's the reason I got pregnant, but it did help my CM.  Good luck!

Welcome ! Don't try to stress yourself out too much about getting KU in the first month, it doesn't happen that way necessarily even under the most perfect of situations..

Thanks... no offense but i have read the newbie stuff 10, 000 times. I also have been charting and such so this is all not new to me. I wouldnt say I am going crazy, merely trying to increase chances that things are successful, I see nothing wrong with that- if you do then agree to disagree.

Likewise, if you had a doctor screw up a surgery that completely changed your life especially in this respect, you would have some anxiety as well. Again, Agree to disagree I suppose.

You are not telling me anything I dont already know, I am science minded person and have read just about everything you can think of. Know all about charting and do so. However, if there is something that can be done to make it a little easier, esp on DH who had a life changing event due to a Dr's negligence then I am going to do what I can to help him.

If this life changing event could impact his fertility you should really be talking more with your doctor about the best ways to achieve pregnancy.

Also ask the doctor who ordered the SA if the issue he was having could have impacted his SA results. If so then you should definitely get a repeat one.

Well, it would have been most helpful if all of that had been put in the OP. I could have saved myself the three minutes it took to type my replies.

I guess if you know everything already, then there is nothing any of us can tell you other than GL.

Don't get defensive.

You never put all of that info in your original or second post. We don't read minds. From what you originally said it seemed like you guys just got an SA because you felt like it. It changed the game when you have a reason.

You got some good info from previous responses...but you shot them down saying you already know everything. So if you know it all, what's the point of you posting a question?

Good luck getting KU on the first try...

I apologize if I was unclear- I meant you are not telling me anything about charting that I dont already know.

I was asking questions regarding mucinex and how abstaining could effect SA. And I appreciate the info I was given.  These were my questions. I did not ask to be judged for really wanting to get pregnant the first  month around. Don't act like everyone in this board doesnt wish for that.

Maybe just maybe you should all take 10 minutes to think about a person and their circumstances before jumping in and causing a problem.
