Prince or Princess

What do we think Will and Kate are going to name their kid...??

As cnn.com just informed me that she is pregnant.

Obviously Diana is going to be the frontrunner for a girl.

I am editing because I forgot they passed the law making this kid the future monarch no matter what. So they can't have a throwaway name for a girl.

If it's a boy and they follow tradition, he'll have the middle names William Charles Michael.

Something to that effect. It's a bit off (I can't for the life of me figure out Arthur), but at the very least he'd have some good, sturdy first and middle names. No -adens here, thank God!

I'm thinking a girl will have Elizabeth and Diana somewhere in there. For first names, maybe something like Alice or Mary.

For a boy, I like the options of Arthur, Louis, and James.

If they use Louis as a first name, I may die.  I love that name and I don't want it to go all trendy-wendy.

I agree about Diana being in the girl's name somewhere!

Maybe Spencer will be somewhere in the mix.

I expect a very strong and classic name and of course it will then skyrocket in rank.  I'm really excited to see what they pick.

I think Diana probably for a middle name for a girl.  I want to lean towards Elizabeth, Mary, Charlotte or Caroline for the the first name.  But, that means it's totally about the Royal side.  Which is expected of course but I'm not sure if Kate wouldn't want to honor family and if Will couldn't agree with that.  They seem very 21st century.

I'd love to see Philip in honor of Will's grandfather.  I feel like everyone forgets about him because he's only a consort and his title is Prince instead of King.

Do you all think that they'll definitely do multiple middle names (royal standard for centuries)?  Sometimes I wish I could "get away" with that, just so I could use more names, lol!

If they do a smoosh or something trendy, I will die!!!

oh, fair point about Philip!!  I do hope they use that somewhere.

I don't think it will be anything remotely trendy.  Elizabeth already has one great grandchild named Savannah and I got the distinct impression when she born that her name was not ... deemed appropriate.  But, this is what I gleaned from British news articles at the time.

I agree that the name they choose will be a classic staple. I just hope it's not one of my favorites! I know it shouldn't bother me... But it would!

I'm getting so big!

I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.

Sadly, she seems very much willing to conform to expectations in matters of dress and decorum, so I'm sure you're right that the baby will have a perfectly proper name. I'd love to see something wildly "inappropriate," but it's not going to happen.

I remember reading about baby Savannah when she was born and admiring her parents for not giving a f**k about expectations.

I guess Victoria or Philip. Diana will definitely be part of the girl name, maybe Elizabeth as well? Or Caroline for Kate's mum?

Royals always have like 10 names anyway so by throwing all those out there I'm hoping I'm right with at least one, haha.

Edit: Ok, I'm adding Albert to boy names I think they might use. That was the name of both Victoria's husband and Elizabeth's father, and while I don't think the name itself is popular in the UK it is the same type of name that is big there. Maybe for one of the middle names if it is a boy? I think George and Edward would be in the mix too.

We should have a little board contest.  You get to guess three names for boy and a girl.  Certain number of points for first name or middle names.  Or something like that...

Personally I would love to see them break from tradition a little and use names from both sides of the family.  Although ditto PP who said that she has seemed very intent on following royal traditions thus far.  Talk about baby naming pressure!  This baby will be world famous and likely end up in history books some day!

I just have to pop in and say I am so excited about this! I really have no name predictions, other than to agree with everyone who said it will be super classic.

I think it was just lucky that Kate had such a classic "Queen" style name. Imagine if William had fallen in love with a "Savannah" like you spoke of. That would have been interesting!

For a girl, I am thinking Diana as a middle name for sure.  I think the 1st name will be Caroline or Elizabeth.

Maybe it will be Caroline Elizabeth Diana and they will call her Caroline.

Either way, it will be a classic name!  I can't wait :)

I think Diana would be a bit much for a FN (that's a lot to live up to) but I would definitely see them using it as a MN if it's a girl.

I am just crossing my fingers it is NOT Caroline or George- our top names! I know it could be, though. I really don't want them to become crazy popular and don't want to lose the chance to save the name for later! Selfish, but true!

I think Diana will be the middle name if it is a girl. The first name will be something formal maybe Elizabeth and she will be called Beth or Eliza.

For a boy I think Spencer will be the middle name to honour Diana, I think the first name will be formal maybe George.
