Doctor's office doppler ?

So it took the doctor FOREVER to find my baby's HB today.  He finally found it but i'm freaking out a little. The HB is in the 150s so he said it was good, but I'm still worried about it taking so long to find.  I'm far along enough that it should be kind of easy, right?

I'm on my phone so I can't see how far along you are.

But, at my last appointment, I was 14 weeks and my nurse had a difficult time finding LO's heartbeat. Baby was tucked in deep and moving around. She did find it but I could barely hear it through all the swooshing.

I'm sure everything is just fine. They found it, so it's there! If they were concerned, or couldn't find it at all, I'm sure they'd have sent you for an ultrasound?

I had an appointment this morning and it took a little longer this time to pick up the heartbeat too.  I also had an ultrasound, so that did make me feel better and the heart rate was 153.

I had mine done 4 days ago and the nurse told me before she even started that it could take a while to find. I wouldn't be worried.  The important thing is you heard it and it was strong!

I know where baby sits most often so I pointed that spot out to the dr ast time because she was having an issue finding it too.

The same thing happened to me at my 16 week appt. (which was actually done at 17 weeks).  She couldn't find the heartbeat, and finally resorted to ultrasound, where she was able to locate it more quickly.  

She said that at this stage, sometimes the babies move around too fast to catch them with the doppler.  Once she said that, I had to laugh, because I had a mental image of baby racing around my uterus trying to escape the doppler :)

I wouldn't worry.  The baby can get into a position or hide behind something that makes it hard.

I know that I have previa and a titled ute.  At my 16w appt, I didnt tell the nurse anything and she was struggling to find anything (I was getting ready to panic - 2 appts in a row?!) but then once I told her about those 2 things she's like 'Ohhh thanks for telling me " and boom, found it.

My doctor has had a hard time finding the hb my last two appointments. The first time she sent me for an ultrasound and this time she was able to find it after about 5 minutes of trying. I told her where I usually find it with mine and boom there it was. She also said that is seems like baby likes to hide behind the placenta and she thinks that's why she has a hard time finding it. Plus LO likes to stay at the very top of my uterus. Nothing to be worried about as long as they were able to find it.

Don't be worried. I can usually find it easily on my home doppler, but once it took me forever. Just yesterday, I found it rather easily then lost it. There was so much swooshing and jabbing it kept coming and going. It sounded stronger, fainter, stronger, disappeared for a bit. I just pictured him in there treating my womb like a disco.

Dopplers are sensitive to placement and angle. Your doc found it and it sounded strong. Try to focus on that.

It took them a long time at my last one.  I think like a PP said, baby was just deep in there and dr said it was moving like crazy.

Our 16 week appt. was today and it took a while because baby kept moving away.

I have an extremely stubborn baby who does not always cooperate with a doppler.
Dec. '10 - Decided to adopt.
March '11 - Started home study.
Sept. '11 - Completed home study. Started working with law firm.
Dec. '11 - Started working with national agency.
May '12 - Put adoption on hold after nephew's death.
July '12 - Matched with a birthmom. Match fell through.
August '12 - Matched with a birthmom. Match fell through.
Took break from adoption. Got pregnant!
