Double Stroller: City Select vs. City Mini?

I will have a 22 month old and a newborn.

I am torn between these two.

I currently have the city mini single and love everything about it EXCEPT the under storage space which is worthless and does not fit our diaper bag.

The city mini double is lighter and easier to fold and although it fits through doorways I worry when going to the mall for example and trying to fit in between aisles, etc.

I like the versatility of the city select but do not like the weight of it and how I need to take a piece off to fold it.

Thoughts? Personal experience?

I have the city mini and love it. The bottom storage baskets are still very difficult to use, however - but that's not an issue for me. There are small baskets on the back of the seats that I use. I do love the weight and how easily it folds up.

I found the city select harder to steer with DS in the front. Plus, I felt like he was too small for the seats already and would outgrow it quickly.

DS is older then your eldest and will be 3 when DS2 gets here, but still thought I would respond. We are going with the city mini double.

Replying here as I'm curious to see future responses.  Assuming all goes well with this pregnancy, my kids will be about 20-21 months apart.  I have a 2012 City Mini that I LOVE and am leaning toward getting the City Mini Double, though I wish it came in cuter colors.  I currently have the purple and love it... the colors for 2012 aren't the greatest.

I don't own either but I wanted to jump in on this because I am on the double stroller hunt.  For me, the basket is really important so I will not buy the Mini single or double.  I pushed a friends City Select and didn't love the push, especially when the heavier child is in front.  I would try that one out for yourself before you buy it because people really love it but you have to make sure you love it.  I think it's probably the best tandem on the market but you have to decide if you like the way it maneuvers.

I am probably going with the Valco Baby Zee Two.  It's a side by side double that's pretty lightweight and has a great basket.  You might want to consider some other brands depending on what your must haves are.

I have the City Mini double and LOVE it.  I take it to the mall and only have an issue at Gymboree and Gap because they are cramped.

I attach my diaper bag to the handle and if I need to store something, I shove it under through the sides or I use the pouches behind the seats.

I liked the idea of the Select, but it was just too heavy for me to maneuver and lift to put into my SUV trunk.

I went with the Select because I wanted to be able to use the carseat adapter for LO#2.  When you attach the adapter to the Citi Mini double its HUGE.  I didn't think the steering was that bad although I can see the seats being on the smaller side(DD#1 is only 25th percentile so its probably okay for us).

You should definitely go test them out at a local store.

I have a select and am using it as a single now.  DD is pretty tall but she fits in the seat fine.  We have a few strollers and this is her favorite so it must be comfy for her.

I plan on using it in double mode come May but am worried about how it will handle.  It can be heavy when pushing up or down any incline with just DD.  the basket is fine.  It is hard to access when the seat is reclined but there are zippers to get into the basket- not sure if city mini has this feature.   There are also storage pockets on the back of the seat which become totally useless once reclined.  Another complaint is that when folded with the seat on its awkward to get in my trunk.  I usually detach the seat for this reason.

Overall I like the stroller, it seems more practical for me since I don't think DD will be in a stroller full time for too much longer after the next arrives.  It will be nice to have an option and not always need to have a wide double when out and about.

I actually have the adaptor on my city midi double and I honestly don't find it all that huge.  I can still fit through doorways just fine.

IMO it's like comparing apples to oranges.  They both have their pros and cons and are really each better suited to different uses.  I currently have a city select and a city mini.  I have purchased the 2nd seat for the CS and plan to purchase a double CM GT.

The City select is great for longer trips on flat surfaces and navigating narrower spaces.  As previous posters have mentioned, it's harder to moneuver with the heavier child in the front so it might not be the best choice if your primary use is walking around the neighborhood where you have to go up and down curbs.   The basket is awesome and gives you lots of room when you are shopping.  And one huge benefit of this stroller is that you have the flexibility to use it as a double or single depending on how many kids you run out with or when your DD decides she is done riding in the stroller.  The downside to this stroller is that it is heavy and takes time to assemble and diasassemble each time you stop somewhere.  This is definitely a pain in the butt if you are running around and have to drive to all your different stops.

The City Mini is so easy to set up and put away.  I bought mine so that when I was doing quick trips around town with DD I could just pop it open and we were ready to go.  The basket is small and inaccessible so it wasn't my first choice for long trips in the mall.  The seat seems bigger than on the CS (I've never looked into the exact measurements) and she seems like she has more room grow.  I am planning to get the CM GT Double and look forward to it's ability to go anywhere over any sort of terrain.  Our CM single is not a GT and is not good in snow/slush or soft ground.  The other thing about the CM double is that it will always be a double.  You won't have the option to turn it into a single.  So depending on what your needs are, you mgiht end up needing a good single stroller too.

 Good luck with your decision!

We have the City Mini Double and really like it. The basket is annoying, but I like all the other features enought that it doesn't bother me too much. I was deciding between the Select and the City Mini and went with the Mini because of how lightweight and easy to fold it was.

I have been looking at the Select and the Britax B-Agile double which is very similar to the City Mini double but has an easier to access basket and is way less expensive. We currently have the B-Agile single and I love it. Plus, the Britax infant carseat snaps in place without any kind of frame which I love.

I thought I wanted the Select, but after trying it out in the store, I realized I didn't really like it as much as I thought I would. While DD looked comfy in the front seat, I didn't like that I could not see her AT ALL when I was pushing it. Not even her feet or the top of her head. It didn't seem hard to maneuver, but DD is only 25 pounds now. Also, I hated how it folded. To get it to fit in my car I had to take it apart. I just can't see myself standing alone in the middle of a parking lot trying to take it apart or put it back together. The basket, however, is fabulous. I will have major basket envy every time I see one.

The Britax double and the City Mini double are just so easy to fold and steer like a dream. I took them both into the bathroom at BBB to make sure the width wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. My only concern is shopping at tight clothing stores. Gymboree may not be in my future Sad

I have the CS and wish with all my heart I had purchased a side by side.  I hate my CS.  Too hard to push.

ETA:  The difficulty pushing it comes from the fact that the only way it is practical for me to use the thing as a double is with my oldest (ie heaviest... and he is only 35 pounds) in the front seat so he can climb in and out, and so that the infant seat is up high in the back close to me.  I hate this stroller.
