Which Progesterone?

Progesterone in Ethyl Oleate (Injectible progesterone…typically cheapest option but it is an intramuscular injection)


OR

Endometrin 100mg tablets (tablet inserted vaginally; three times a day?)


OR

Crinone 8% (gel inserted vaginally; once a day?)

Are you asking which is more effective or which is easier?

 

Of these I've only done Crinone and didn't have any issues with it. The "gunk" wasn't even that much or bad for me. If I do IVF again my RE wants me to try PIO, but I'm not sure how that would play out as DH is not an injection giving kind of guy so I'd have to give them to myself. Boo!

Occasionally using acupuncture.
IVF #1:EPP 5/2012 ~ (4R, 3M, 2F w/ICSI). Both embies txfrd. ~ BFN
BCP to manage Endo from 10/2012 to 12/2012.

I did PIO my first cycle it wasn't that bad for me. I'm doing the endometrin suppositories and they suck! They are a leaky gooey mess! I don't have experience with Crinone so I can't comment.
Me 37 MH 40 - TTC since June 2010 - dx with Severe MFI. Straight to IVF with ICSI. IVF #1 - ER 06/13/12 - 9 Eggs Retrieved - 4 ICSI'd - only 2 fert. 06/15/12 - 2DT - 3 cell & 6 cell with fragmentation. Beta 06/29/12 - IVF #1 = BFN. 07/20/12 - WTF Appt -Told by our RE to quit IVF. Second Opinion from RE is good. IVF#2 - November 2012. Estradiol Pills Started 11/6. Stims start 11/16. ER 11/26 - 7 eggs retrieved - all mature. 4 fertilized with ICSI. ET 11/29 Transferred 3 embryos. Beta is 12/10. 1st Beta 81 2nd Beta 160 and 3rd beta 360!!! First U/S 12/21/12 - We saw one beautiful gest. sac. 2nd U/S is 01/04/2013 - H/B 183 02/05/13 - NT Scan - everything looks good and IT'S A BOY!!! EDD 08/19/12

I am doing PIO.  They aren't so bad, at least from what I thought they were going to be.  I've had to give the last few myself as my DH went out of town.  It actually hurt less (as in not at all) when I do them.  So now he isn't allowed, I choose to do it myself!!
Too Positive to be doubtful, Too Optimistic to be fearful, and Too Determined to be defeated.

I'm on the PIO as well and as much as I was scared of allowing DH inject me, I'd choose it again....even with my new POI lovely lady lumps.  Probably because I KNOW my body is absorbing it.

I was prescribed Crinone.  When I went to fill it the pharm tech told me it would be $18.  I thought hey-pretty good!  She later came out to inform me that she made a mistake it is $18 each, not total.  So for the 30 my doc prescrible it would be over $500.  We are OOP for meds-so I am going to ask her about the IM injection-she did tell me it would be cheaper, and to let her know if the crinone was too expensive!  Just trying not to think about it being IM.  I don't have a problem with the sub-q but not sure if I could do that.  My hubby already informed me that he won't to it to me.  My sis is a nurse-I think I'll be hitting her up for help! 
TTC naturally since Nov 2010. Diagnosed with PCOS in June of 2012 Started seeing a RE June 2012 HSG showed a block left tube Hubby's SA showed a slightly low count everything else ok Three rounds of Clomid/IUI-all three rounds IUI were cancelled because follicles never matured. Starting injections for IVF Dec. 1st. Praying for the Christmas gift of a lifetime!!! 11/30 Baseline U/S and bloodwork-everything looks great! 12/1 Start Stims 12/11 ER 16R 7M 7F 12/16 ET 12/26 Beta #1 364 12/28 Beta #2 758 12/31 Beta #3 2249 12/31 Ultrasound showed...TWINS!!!!!! 2/4 Ultrasound showed one baby with HR of 174 and one angel baby. My RE had me alternate days between Crinone and PIO. Crinone is super easy, and PIO really isn't too bad yes, its IM. Next round, we are doing only PIO though because my progesterone blood work came back low, and as Crinone isn't necessarily picked up on b/w, we decided it would be easier to monitor if I was just using PIO.

Me: 35, DH: 36, ttc: 3+ years, dx: unknown
10/11: after 2 years, saw a RE, FSH 5.4
11/11: BFP! (surprise after thyroid med & normal hsg),
12/11: missed m/c after 7 week u/s,
1/12: D&C,
6/12 IUI #1: clomid, 5 mature follicles, excellent sperm,= BFN,
7/12: IUI #2: clomid, 3 mature follicles, excellent sperm= BFN,
8/12: IUi #3: clomid, 5 follicles, = BFP!, C/P
10/12 IVF #1: FSH 5.4, estradiol AFC: 14, long Lupron 150/bravelle75,5R/5M/4F, all 4 made it to 5dt, 1 blast and 1 8 cell transferred. No frosties. BFN
IVF #2: AFC 21, MD lupron 12/25, 225bravelle/150men, 4R/4M/3F, 5dt of 1 blast BFN
IVF #3: natural start antagon, starting 3/30, ER 4/11, 12R,11M,10F

Loving the feedback!  I wasn't asking about anything specific, but am definitely curious about the "experience" with each.  This may sound strange, but I'm such a prude the thought of the gel or tablets totally freaks me out.... I don't even use tampons!!!  Haha!!  However, I'm not a needle fan either... if I see them I faint!  I have issues.  LOL

I've only used Endometrin and Crinone... my RE doesn't use PIO. 

The dirty details, neither of them are really that pleasant.  I find the Endometrin to be less messy.  Meaning that there are occasional chunks goop that come out, but it isn't too bad.  My nurse also recommended a "finger sweep" to help with some of the larger pieces that aren't absorbed. 

A pantyliner is a must with both.  The Crinone on the other hand... EWH!  Much messier!

I've never used Crinone, but of the other two, I definitely prefer the Endometrin. I hated those PIO shots so much. They don't hurt going in but afterward was nonstop (though admittedly not serious) pain, lumps and soreness. I still have lumps in my butt from those shots, months after my cycle ended. No gross discharge can be as bad as that, in my humble opinion.

TTC #1 for about 3.5 years
ME: 37, PCO, immune issues?, teflon uterus (my added diagnosis)
HIM: 38, Perfect. (Showoff.)
Month before starting Clomid, spontaneous pregnancy. m/c at 7 weeks and D&C.
Four months of Clomid, one IUI, with Intralipid each cycle: BFNs all
IVF 1.0 July 2012 -- Lupron, bravelle, menopur, estrogen, progesterone supps, intralipid. 14 ER, 14 fertilized, 1 blast transferred, 2 on ice. BFN
FET 1.1 -- 10/2, transferred our 2 blasts. Lupron, PIO, estrogen, baby aspirin, prednisone. BFN.
IVF 2.0 December 2012 -- Bravelle, Menopur, Ganirelix, Prednisone, Metformin, estrogen, progesterone supps. 22 eggs retrieved on 12/14, 17 mature, 15 fertilized. OHSS anticipated so ET cancelled. 3 embryos frozen.
Broke up with old RE. Moving on to new dude. Maybe the change of scenery will be just the trick for our frosties. On BCPs for possible April FET.

I was on progesterone until 13 weeks pregnant. I've done all three.

PIO is cost effective, but hurt like a muthah!!!

Crinone required vaginal sweeping, which is gross and weird, but not that big of a deal. Best done in the shower...

Endometrin has to be administered more often and for me, resulted in a slow and steady stream of nastiness.

I use the injections.  The pills that you can take orally or vaginally made me crazy.  I always get the fun reactions.  Poor dh was so scared of me and I was scared for him.  So the cream one was my next choice but it was hundreds of dollars and it is all oop so I do the injections.  Dh gives them to me and if he is out of town my dad does it.  More poor dad had to give me the trigger once too.  He is so good to me.

Ultrasound 1/10 - Nothing completely empty uterus Beta 1/14 - 743; Beta 1/17 - 1704 ultrasound shows nothing. Officially a miscarriage. 1/21 Beta 3900 Dr. says it ectopic. Ultrasound shows a miracle heartbeat right in the uterus where it belongs! Dr. says I can be cautiously optomistic!!! Hang in there baby!

I used PIO with some numbing cream. I had a sore behind here and there but nothing major. DH always did the shots. After hearing about the other two, PIO sounds easy!
TTC #1 since 2008. IUI #1: Clomid+trigger=BFN. IUIs #2-4: Femara+Follistim+trigger=BFNs.
IVF #1, Nov 2012: Bravelle+Menopur. 17R, 12M (all ICSIed), 6F. 5 day transfer of 2 embies=BFN. 2 embies frozen.
FET #1: started BCPs April 2013.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the shots.... which I NEVER would have thought I'd say that in my life, but the other stuff freaks me out and I need to save money anywhere I can!

I tried injection, both olive oil and ethyl oleate, and I tried the endometrin.  I thought the shots were less messy.  I am not a pad wearing person... so it was annoying to be dealing with that all the time.  I was on the progesterone shots for 8 weeks straight, and it was better for me that way.  Ethyl oleate is better than olive oil by far!
