Bumbos and Other "Seats"???

Are they worth it???  If so, which is your favorite?

DD is 4 months old and I'm wondering if this is something I could use?  She really enjoys sitting up (although she cant do it by herself).  However she's got an exersauser that I'm about to set up for her.

I'm not sure if its woth getting a seat for her?  If I understand correctly, you can only use it on the floor.  You can't use it on a chair (or other elevated surface), and you can't use it in the tub.

I never had one and was never really interested in getting one. It seems like there's a very short window in which they fit in them and will stay in them so it seems like a silly thing to buy. I've also heard that it's not great for muscular development, but not positive on that.

We never got one because it didn't seem like a practical use of money.  They do have to be placed on the floor and used with supervision.  There were several recalls after reports of skull fractures from improper use and children falling off elevated surfaces (seems like common sense fail rather than product failure).  They can't be used in the bathtub or chairs because they do not have mechanisms to secure them.

We have the Mama's & Papa's one.

To us, it was worth it. We used it primarily for feeding when he was a little bit too small for the high chair. Also, it was convenient for quick snacks.

We were gifted a Bumbo and I found it to be pointless.  You have to be right next to them when they are in it.  I can sit on the floor and hold my child on my lap or practice sitting them on the floor.  If I'm going to sit my child in something, I want to be able to go wash dishes or cook dinner.  I much preferred the exersaucer.

the bumbo was helpful for maybe a month. not worth the $$ for such limited use imo, but great if you can get a handme down.

Didn't like the Bumbo, she always leaned over to the side to get out.

When we wanted her to practice sitting to strengthen her muscles, I put the Boppy pillow on the floor, propped up with another small pillow under it.  So it kinda circled around her.  It was only a month or so later that she was sitting up on her own, so I'd say just hold off and use the exersaucer when LO can sit up
