Need some new perspective on Baby #2's room

Hi there!

I need some fresh objective ideas on this baby room dilemma. We live in a small 3 bedroom house, about 1400 square feet. We have our master, T's room, and the office/guest room. Office/Guest room has a twin bed for the grandma visits and the computer. We're contemplating turning the office into the baby #2 room but then we'll have no guest accommodations. Is it really that big of a deal to not that that twin bed for G-Ma's? I'm thinking yes but we need the space too for LO.

PS. We're working on getting the basement finished but we're FAR from that...probably a year or more financially. But we could throw the computer and guest bed down there....is that crappy?

Thoughts?

How often does your Grandma visit? If it's often and during the cold weather I wouldnt' want to stick her down there with a draft. We currently have a guest bed in DD's room and haven't had any issues ( she just sleeps with us when we have a guest).

I have a 3 bedroom and the guest room is turning into DD's room and baby will go into her old room.  People should not expect you to have a place for them to stay.

We're converting our guest room into DD's room, and using DD's current room for baby.  Our basement is finished, so the guest bed will be down there, along with a couple of recliners & a TV.  Both sets of grandparents live out of state, so it's necessary to keep the guest bed available for their visits.

Unless Grandmas are visiting every weekend, I'd give the second room to LO and put the computer elsewhere.  Depending on when you move your DS to a twin, the gmas could sleep in that bed and put him in your room.  Otherwise invest in a good air mattress and have them sleep in the living room.  It would be silly for them to expect your child not to have his/her own room so they had a space when they came.

I'd be more likely to make it into a room for baby #2, unless the grandmas are staying over bc they are helping out with babysitting.  If that's the case and they are there multiple nights a month/week, then I'd say they should have their own space.

We have a 3/1 under 1000 sq ft. We are keeping the baby in our room in the bassinet for a few weeks then a crib in the guest bedroom until he/she is STTN. Then new baby will share a room with DD. we have no plan to move or expand the house at this time.

We're in the same boat.  Both of our parents live out of state and when they come down it's for extended periods of time so it is nice to have a guest bedroom.

I've thought about just putting a crib in the guest bedroom until LO2 STTN and then having them share a room.

I've also thought of putting the queen in DD's room on the floor as her bed so that when guests come there is still a big bed for them to sleep in but that most of the time is DD's.  The only problem with that is that she doesn't sleep well in a room with us so I don't know what she would do when we had guests visiting.

Our guest room is becoming a nursery/guest room.  My parents stay at a hotel when they visit (mom couldn't handle the stairs to the room anyhow), and his mother doesn't visit.  We're basically just keeping the full size bed that's already there because we hate to get rid of it, only to buy a new bed once we're past the crib stage.

I think as PPs have said, you shouldn't worry about having a guest bed for G-Ma's unless they're staying frequently/for long stretches, or you have the space for it.
