High BP - More bedrest

I need ideas of things I can do other than go broke on Amazon, surf the bump and watch the DIY network.

I was 150/84 going in and after 10 minutes on my left side I was 140/80. I'm so over bed rest. They'd like me to make it to 38 weeks. I really want to make it to 39 weeks before we talk about intervention of any sort. I really want to make it come naturally, honestly.

Of course the baby has been on my sciatic nerve all.freaking.weekend and then today I wake up and it doesn't hurt! Go figure. The Dr suggested if it happens again I get a prescription of percocet filled. I was kind of freaking out because I haven't taken anything this whole pregnancy except my prenatals and tylenol when I need it. She reassured me it would be okay and if I don't want it, to throw it away but she wanted me to have it so I had a choice if it got as bad as it did this weekend.

Ugh. Anyone else in my boring boat?

That doesn't seem too high.  Although I was put on bedrest for the same-ish thing (but now I'm off b/c my protein levels went down), I was told I could walk or do other mild exercise like water aerobics or yoga, so if that's allowed, that would get you out of the house.  You could read some novels.  Sort through notes from college or whenever or your junk drawer and get rid of things.  Write old friends.  Read parenting books.  Read or play music for your LO.  Take an online course.  Start writing a novel.  Develop your extreme couponing skills by visiting coupon websites.  Try new recipes and maybe bake for meals on wheels or something if you can do it without exertion.  Nap.

I'm surprised they're talking induction...those bps are not bad.  The bottom number is what they usually worry about, because the top can fluctuate a lot with stress or anxiety or just being excited.  Anything over 140/90 is when they start to watch you, but if you're not having symptoms or protein spilling, I would seriously question the induction thing.

As far as ideas, I'm sorry I wish I had some! I'm also on bed rest for BP and it sucks! I'm also going broke on amazon :)

I was on bedrest with my last pregnancy so I know how boring it can be!  I did a lot of reading and plain old sleeping.

My BPs were similar when I was put on bedrest. They might not be bad for some people but it all depends what your normal is and how they've elevated over the course of the pregnancy.

Are you on full bed rest for that? My blood pressure has been between 130-140/80-90 this whole pregnancy and he only recently told me I need to "take it easy." He said to put my feet up a couple hours a day. I am wondering if I should be resting more!

The numbers might not seem high but it isn;t just the numbers they look at but you begining  pregnancy numbers and how you are tolerating the higher BP.

Scrap booking, sewing, teaching yourself to knit. I would go stir crazy if I were on bed rest so more power to ya. Have your DH buy/rent old seasons of your favorite shows and catch up again.

Although your diastolic number (the lower one) is pretty good, the other one is high. Especially if you had good BP before pregnancy so it's normal to be on bed rest for that. I hope you can make it to 39 or even 40 weeks before you have to be induced but people need to remember that high BP can affect your baby's growth and sometimes it's better for baby to be induced.

I'm sorry you're bored. I can relate. I've been on bedrest since 28w and I am going crazy. I never watched the series LOST so I'm watching that now and it's pretty entertaining. lol Have you tried taking up knitting or crocheting or something? Ask your OB for some suggestions, they know what they are allowing you to do within your bed rest and they've probably heard it all.
