14 month old suddenly wants paci at night

We sleep trained my LO and he's been sttn for quite a few months. In the last 2 weeks he has started to walk and is drooling a lot so I guess his molars are coming through too. Now at night he's so hard to settle and will stand up screaming in his crib at bedtime. He hasn't taken a pacifier since he was 6 months but now won't go to sleep without it. I'm worried he's going to start waking in the night when he loses it!

Anyone else have a similar experience? If so what did you do?

Sorry...but why would you have even given him the pacifier if he hasn't had one in 8 months??

I don't have experience- DD has preferred her fingers since ~4 months old, but if I were you, I would NOT reintroduce the paci. That is probably no help to you, but it would be that much harder to get rid of it now that he is older. Have you tried any teething solutions specifically? (Tylenol, frozen teethers, the usual stuff?) Good luck!

My suggestion, if youve ready reintroduced and LO is attached and you're ok with that, is to put a BUNCH in his bed so he can find one in the middle of night if need be. Our DD still has we paci for bedtime only and we keep about 6 to 8 in her bed so she can always find one. GL, hope the teeth pop through soon!

I wouldn't have reintroduced the paci if it's been that long but since you have, I suggest waiting until this period of discomfort has passed and when he seems like he's back to more good days than bad, take it away again. He will cry a few nights but it will pass and he will become a better sleeper when he learns to sleep without it. At least that's what happened with DD. We just took hers away last week and she used to wake twice during the night for me to come find her paci and give it back to her. After taking it away, she woke up twice that night and I went in the first time to let her know I was there, but I didn't go in the second time and she fell right back to sleep on her own. And by the 2nd night sans paci, she was back to STTN - no waking! She's been doing great ever since.

I tried just cutting back on the paci and using it just for sleep but she would cry for it throughout the day so when I finally just took it away completely, it's like she just figured out that it wasn't an option anymore.
