prenatal vitamins

hi there! i wanted to go get some prenatals right away, but i have no idea which ones to buy! i don't have my first obgyn appointment for 2 weeks, but i didn't really want to wait to be prescribed something. everything in the store was pretty similar as far as nutrients, just some had a little more than others. how do i decide? thanks, everyone!

I've taken the Nature Made prenatals with DHA with each pregnancy.  My OB usually gives me some samples, but has never written me a script she said the over the counter ones are just as good.

I found the Centra Materna were the best ones for me.  The others made me feel extra sick.  I am also taking extra folic acid right now too.

Find one with a high folic acid count.
One with DHA.
One without dyes for color. Like red 40.
I take natures bounty your turn prenatal with omega 3, dha.
Its a one a day.
I use to take different ones but i was sick of taking 2 pills a day. Lol

I take New Chapter Perfect Prenatal and I get them off Amazon. They don't upset my stomach even if I take them w/o food.

I started out with Real Organics pretnatals and really liked them but they were a bit pricey for me.

Now I'm on rainbow lights but the one a day thing just isn't working for my morning sickness. Going on NOW prenatals when this bottle is up. As long as it's derived from food and not synthetically made in a lab you should be good. When you look at the label it should have (from blah blah) on it next to whatever vitamin.

It's great to find one with DHA in it but my midwife said that that can cause a lot of nausea in the beginning so it might be better to take them seperately to start. Also a trick is to but the DHA pills in the freezer, that way they digest slower.

 Good luck and congrats!

I took Target brand with DS. I could never find a DHA pill that didn't make me sick so I skipped them.

This time around I am taking Nature Made Multi soft gel.  It has DHA in the pill so I only have to take one pill per day and I haven't had issues with them making me sick.

I take GNC prenatal with DHA. 3 pills a day, but it's not fishy and does not upset my stomach.

I originally got a prescription from my doctor, but after checking out the ingredients, I decided to strike out on my own.  I take Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal by Garden of Life.  I wanted something free of synthetics and dyes, and made from real, whole foods.  I also take fish oil, as I always have. So far so good.

I bought whatever was cheapest at Target (for this pregnancy and the last), and made sure to take DHA too (either in the same pill or a separate pill).  My OB doesn't care what brand.

Remember you can always take Flintstones if regular prenatals make you sick.  I think they are all really gross.

Yeah, I feel like prescription prenatals always end up really expensive and they contain the same vitamins as OTC prenatals. I take Premama prenatal vitamin drink mix. It's awesome because it's a powdered supplement instead of a pill. I get horrible morning sickness and I have trouble keeping anything down, so swallowing a pill is not happening. You mix the Premama with juice, gatorade, flavored water, etc It's completely flavorless and contains ginger root for nausea. It runs at about $25 for a 30-day supply online.
