NTTGPR: Books

I am out of books on my kindle and looking for some new reads.

I mainly like chick lit, and current books (for example, not written or taking place in the 70s or earlier)

Any suggestions on books or favourite authors?

My favourite author is Elin Hilderbrand, followed by Jodi Picoult. Also like Jennifer Weiner, Emily Giffin, etc.

TIA!

Marian Keyes, Cathy Kelly, Anna McPartlin, and Jane Green. I mainly like chick lit too. I've read all of Jodi Picoult's,  Jennifer Weiner's and Emily Giffin's books. I will check out Elin Hilderbrand!

I'll start with The Island then! Marian Keyes is probably my favorite. I love all of her books! Happy reading!

Ooo....I liked The Host. Heard there was a movie deal in the works for that book.

I'm currently finishing up the newest Kathy Reichs book. Not really chick lit, but she's the lady that developed the Bones tv show. I love her books.

I've got similar chick lit taste. Barbara Delinsky is great. I also like a good chick lit mystery, so Janet Evanovich and GA Mckevett both write a good series. And I loved a discovery of witches recently by Deborah Harkness.

I don't really read chick lit, so I don't have any great suggestions for that genre, but I can recommend some of my favorites:

Divergent

A Fault in Our Stars

Ready Player One

The Night Circus (Currently TTGPBC pick which will be discussed on 12/6).

Now for my shameless plug of the TTGP Book Club. The first Thursday of every month I post a Book Club discussion thread, and the first Friday of every month (yes the day after the discussion) CiderWench will post the suggestion/voting threads for the next book. Feel free to jump in if you'd like.

ETA: I just noticed you didn't like historical fiction, so I removed my suggestions that aren't current.

Has anyone read Rules of Civility by Amor Towles?  It's my newest fave.  It's set in the '30s (told as a flash back), but not in a history-lesson way.  More like a Great Gatsby way, with flashy parties and hunting clubs.  I loved it.

Do you like "sci-fi" type books? Like, were-animals, etc? If so, Rachel Vincent has a really good adult series. It's the "Shifter" series. I can't remember what book is first, but the titles are Alpha, Shift, Prey, etc (single word titles).

I also just recently read  The Gazebo by Emily Grayson. It it's slightly historical fiction, but it follows along the lines of The Notebook (someone in the present reading a story in the past).

I also second Still Alice. LOVED that. Also, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. That is about an autistic boy/teen trying to solve the death of a dog in the neighborhood and what he uncovers about his own family.

I am going to have to find the book club thread when it is posted!
