XP: Recommend your diaper bag

The one I loved is apparently no longer being sold and the other color options just don't really thrill me.  :(  I may just choose one if I don't find anything else, but now I wonder if the shape is convenient (it's tall and not as wide as most diaper bags).  I thought I'd check and see what everyone else is doing.  This is the one I originally registered for (though in a different color) and this is my favorite (in Paisley Meets Plaid, even though it's a boy), though I don't know that I feel comfortable spending that much.

Basically, I am just looking for a good diaper bag, preferably under $100.

Thank you!!

I had a vera bradley and I hated it! I should have known, my friend tried to warm me, but I was stubborn lol!  I was trying to pack it and it just wasn't the right side, the pockets were inconvienent, it was just a mess. I ended up returning it, and my mom and me split the cost of a storksac. They are pricey, but we found one on ebay that was a little cheaper.

Good to hear something on the opposite side.  A friend had it and loved it enough to get another for her second child.  I'll take a trip to the store and take a look at the one I like.  She had the classic style, and I didn't like how flimsy the strap looked online.

Thanks!

I love my timi & leslie bag, but they're not cheap.  I paid $130 for mine.

I did see two that were cute for about $70 and $80.  I'll have to get to the store and see them in person.  Thanks!

I had a messanger style with my first, and I really did not like it. If I was carrying it on my shoulder, the flap closing it made it too hard to quickly get into. I much prefer ones with one zipper at the top. I like the one you picked by JJ Cole. I have this one, and really love it: http://www.amazon.com/JJ-Cole-Satchel-Diaper-Stone/dp/B005WPPT54/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1354643500&sr=8-2&keywords=jj+cole+diaper+bag

I have several but the one I use all the time is the Skip Hop Studio bag. It's big enough for cloth diapers, attractive and lots if pockets. I love it.

I got a Vera Bradley, but not the diaper bag. I got the http://www.verabradley.com/product/Category/Totes/Get-Carried-Away-Tote/1000945/defaultColorVariantId/176723/pc/638/c/0/sc/642/p/1000945.uts. So far I love it. I always used Vera's in school/college instead of book bags. I packed it for the hospital and I got a lot in it. It has a ton of pockets and it zips up well. I thought it looked like it would work better than their version of the diaper bag.

They also sell this: http://www.verabradley.com/product/Category/Accessories/Ditty-Bag/154782/defaultColorVariantId/168098/pc/638/c/0/sc/645/p/154782.uts.

It's lined with plastic, so it makes a good travel wet bag for us cloth diaper users and fits nicely in the tote I got.

Thank you ladies!  I will look in to these as well!  I hadn't through about trying to get in to while it was on my shoulder... good point!

I registered for and received a JJ Cole Mode Bag, and did use and like it during my maternity leave.  By the end of maternity leave, I'd had enough of that bag.  It was too deep and not wide enough, I was always digging and having to pull everything out to find something.  Additionally, as he started getting older and I had to bring more things, I didn't find the pockets to be incredibly convenient.  We switched to the Diaper Dude Messenger bag that I bought my husband when DS was 3 months and have been using it exclusively ever since.  It's not very girly or feminine, but I learned very quickly that practicality won out over good looks :)

I do think a lot depends on whether you are going to be going back to work or staying at home too.  I work FT, so I only use our diaper bag on weekends and if we are out to dinner or something during the week.  If I was carrying it around every day I might want something a bit more girly.  Just my two cents.  Good luck in your choice....sometimes it takes a while to figure out what you really need, after your little one gets here!

I just found this brand this weekend and asked for my in-laws to get it for me for Christmas.  I think they are because they asked DH if it was really something I wanted because they are pricey and I wouldn't get much else, he was a good husband and told them how excited I was to find it, so I hope it is under the Christmas tree :)

Check out the Skip Hop bags.  I think they are the best bang for the buck under $100

We live in a city and walk all over so I didn't want a bag that would weigh me down on one side. Instead, I went with this backpack from Maclaren that has lots of pockets and a changing pad that zips out of the bottom:
