Not pooping

So my LO is almost 11 weeks old and has not pooped now for two days. I am getting worried. Any ideas how to get her to poop or should I call the doctor?

Unless she is straining and/or in pain you can give it another day.  She should go by then, however if you are worried you can give her 1oz apple juice with 1oz water in a bottle or you can insert a qtip or thermometer with vaseline into her rectum and gently swirl around.

When she does go, if it is thick like clay or has blood in it, call the dr.

Babies can go up to 7 days without pooping. I've noticed that everytime my DD goes through a growth spurt, she doesn't poop for 4 or 5 days. I wouldn't get worried at this point. But obviously if it lasts for 6 or 7 days, I would check with your doctor.

my LO didn't go for a day or two and today when he did it was clay like grayish but also a lil bit was formula n brown like what I'm used to. Why call dr if its clay like? Should I call or wait till next poo to see what it looks like?

How old is your LO?  FF or EBF?  My DS is EBF and only goes once every 7-10 days.  His pedi is perfectly okay with it.  When he goes, it's soft and usually fills his diaper-he went yesterday and it ran down to his knee!

I meant thick like clay.  Because it can make it painful and difficult for LO to go if he/she is that constipated.  Dr. can make suggestions and even prescribe meds as needed to loosen it up.

Just called my pedi this morning for the exact same thing! My son is also 11 wks. Anyway, his pedi said not to worry until it had been a full 3 days or if he was straining, acting as if he was in pain, or drawing his legs up. She said 1 oz. pasteurized apple juice was ok if we felt like he needed to go.  She said some babies digestive systems take longer to get regulated (apparently less poop is the norm)

Lo went over 48 hours last week (9 weeks old). Like others mentioned you can give the apple or pear juice, 1 ounce for each month of age. They also recommended soaking his bottom in wam bath water to relax the rectum.

My DS only poops once per week (every 7-8 days). The doc says that some babies go up to 14 days without pooping. She said it's only a problem if the poop is very solid, meaning s/he is constipated. She said even if the baby goes 14 days without pooping, as long as the next poop is soft, there's no need to worry. I remember freaking out with DD when she went 4 days without pooping.... DS rarely poops, but when he does, MAN! He explodes! Good luck. :)
