GTKY: Why would this be a good cycle for you to get KU?

...other than the fact that you'd have a baby in 9ish months. :)

One of my "traditions" when my period shows up is to start thinking of reasons why this new cycle/potential due date is just as good as, or better than the last.

So, I'm curious, what are the pros of this cycle for you?

Pro: I would love to have a summer baby. My birthday is also in August and I enjoyed many swimming and outdoor BBQ parties for my bday growing up.

No pros except just having a baby. I really didn't want my entire last trimester in the hot summer heat.

I've been finding cool things about each cycle, up until this one. The only really special thing about getting it this particular cycle would be that we finally got it. I'm still excited for the possibility. I wish I could think of something cool about it, but I also don't because maybe that means this is finally the one, you know? Silly superstitious me...

Pros:

-If I O when predicted, I could get a BFP on or around Christmas day.

-My due date would be mid-September, so I'd be able to start the school year and be there for 1-2 weeks before going on leave. That way I'd at least be able to make an impression on my new students and their parents before disappearing for 3 months.

-I'd possibly be able to extend my leave through next Christmas and go back in January.

My EDD would be early September and I get one year of maternity leave so it would be great to enjoy a whole summer off with a little one running around, presumably they have learned to walk by then.

ooooo interesting question! i try not to think about it too much since this is our first cycle TTC and my expectations for a BFP so soon are nil. im almost hoping not to, crazy at that sounds, since my little sister is getting married halfway across the country in august! and summers in the DC area are disgustingly, swelteringly, hot and humid. but getting KU would be worth those troubles! but its actually those reasons why *not* that will make it easier if AF comes in a few weeks.

TTC #1 since Dec 2012, BFP on 12.15.12, head is spinning this happened so fast!

I'd love another summer baby. Plus, my edd would be close to my birthday which would be an awesome gift.

Walking before a year is an exception. Many don't until well after their 1st birthday. But there would still be plenty of good outdoor things you can do with an older infant that aren't quite as much fun with a younger infant.

It's a different time of year for a birthday from my other kids birthdays, which is a nice break. Birthdays are expensive!

But I do have a con, I would be due at the end of the month in Aug and that's when school starts for the older kids. I'm worried about the transition, a new sibling and back to school at the same general time could be hard. But whatever happens, happens. Smiley Face

A BFP around Christmas would be an amazing gift.

My due date would be 3 to 4 months after DD's birthday, so not too close together.

When we first started TTC, I didn't want to be VERY pregnant all summer, but we just hit month 17 - so honestly... I don't care anymore!

TTC#2 Since July 2011
Me: 29, had two blocked tubes - left was cleared during lap&dye, right was unable to be cleared. PCOS & Stage 2 Endo. DH: 31, SA = perfect.

FEMARA: 1 round = no response.

The pros of this cycle is that I'd be due right around H's bday in early September. I would rather not be in my third trimester the whole summer, but I'll take a baby anytime I can get one!

DH and I arent trying again until January, which is good because I am in a wedding in September and dont want to go into labor there!

If we do get KU in January, our due date will be in October,....which we call "our month" because its when we started dating and when we got married. Also...I dont want to give birth in the heat of summer. blah!

This is a hard one for me, it's nice to hear other peoples pros though. I was really hoping for a spring/summer baby, and if it happens this cycle it would definitely be a September baby, I really had to decide whether I wanted to keep trying or wait a whole 6 months before going at it again. If I had a 28ish day cycle I could definitely get a BFP on Christmas which would be a miracle!! Also the baby could be born very near or on DH and I's 2 year wedding anniversary, also where I live Septembers are known for being almost nicer weather than the summers. I definitely need to keep thinking of these positives rather than think of the negative that its not going to be a spring/summer baby!

This cycle would be soooo much better than the last two. In my neck of the woods most Sept.-Dec. babies are held back so the kids are Sept oldest and the ones born in Aug are the youngest. There have been  studies about how boys who are young for their grade are over diagnosed with ADHD and generally don't perform as well in school as their older peers. For this reason I would like a Sept. birth better than an August or July birth.

I actually had wanted to start trying last year to aim for a birth in the Sept through March months but DH didn't want to start until this July so the fact that we didn't get pregnant immediately means that if we do get pregnant now the baby will be born in the months I find more desirable.

A BFP before Christmas would be an awesome gift and lends itself for some easy, super cute reveals to our parents.

I have July/Aug off before I take my boards in September. So if I have to be pregnant and miserable during the summer, at least I don't have rotations or school to worry about it.

I'm leaning towards that it would be better to start my career later AFTER having a few months off with baby than to start heavily pregnant, then take a leave, and then go back.

I really wanted last cycle cause my EDD would've been my birthday.  Awesome!

Honestly?  With cycles that are 50-80 days long, I can't afford to have many cycles that don't work out!

If we get a BFP this cycle then we could tell all of our immediate family in person on the same day and it would be an awesome Christmas present. I guess the other benefit would be that I would probably get about 5 months off for maternity leave. Since I'm a professor I would take fall semester off from teaching.

if it's not this cycle, it's not the next one, either. And once we get into cycles after that, my maternity leave length will shorten (i.e. I will have to take a lot of it while pregnant instead of after the baby comes, which is less cool.)

Getting pregnant this cycle would be perfect for me as it would have me taking my leave after the busy season. The cons would definitely be me working through the most stressful part of my year.

A pro for this cycle would be that I could potentially get a BFP on DH's birthday. I think that would be an awesome birthday gift for him and early Christmas surprise for us both!

Also, I was hoping for a summer baby so having a late August/early September birthday would be nice!

Pros:

I won't have to be pregnant in my bridesmaids dress for my brothers wedding in September. I have a winter and a spring baby, so I'll be able to have a summer baby too.

Edit to add more reasons:  My EDD this cycle is 8/17, that is the day after my Grandmothers birthday, she passed away last year. I think it would mean a lot to my Dad and his sister if we could honor her birthday by another birth. Also, I'm in college so I wouldn't have to miss any school.

Actually this cycle really wouldn't be a good one at all because I would be due the same month that I have 3 festivals in a row and no time at all but who cares I am not taking a month off just in case this is my cycle. If it happens I will find a way to deal with the festivals, maybe hire a new employee or something.
