Registries

Where did you register? How was your experience? Would you recommend registering there?

Thanks!

I registered at Amazon and BRU. I prefer to register for the vast majority of items online because I like to price shop and read reviews to compare different items. So, obviously Amazon registering is totally online. Even BRU I did all my registering online, but we did go in to the store to take a look at the strollers and cribs.

I preferred registering at Amazon because they have a much wider selection of choices for items and many reviews to help the decisions. The downside is that people can't walk in to a brick and mortar store to pick up the items off the registry, they need to order online ahead of time.

I registered at BRU and my experience was fine. We started in the store & I got a little overwhelmed, so I did the rest online.

I registered at BRU and Wal-Mart. I started online, but I was scared that if people wanted to physically go into a store, that nothing would be available in the store. I finished up my registry in the store. I personally don't shop much online, so I wanted to make sure that those who don't shop online had options as well. IMO, the most stressful part about my pregnancy was registering for my shower and picking out a baby name. Geez!

I'm registering at Target and so far, it's been a decent experience (completely online). We keep trying to go into the store, but never seem to have time to do it. I would recommend it just because there seem to be more Target stores than BRU in my area

I was thinking of registering on amazon because I like taking my time to research items, read reviews, etc. Have any of you registered there and found out most of your guests werent online shoppers and just bought you random stuff BECAUSE you registered online?

We are registered at PBK (for the crib, and bedding) and BRU.  Both experiences have been great both in store and online.

We were registered at Target BUT.......they sell your information to marketing companies and we are now being bothered all the time about things we won (bogus) and people wanting us to take surveys.  I let target know and shut our registry down...this happened when we registered for our wedding too.  Not the best experience.  Everything target had...BRU had for the same price.

We registered at Buy Buy Baby and BRU.  If I had it to do all over aain, I would have skipped BRU altogether.  Their service was awful.  Their workers don't know anything about their products.  They don't do immediate updates of registries, so we wound up with numerous duplicate gifts at the shower because things weren't showing as purchased when some of my friends/family made their selections.

The best way I can describe our experience would be to say Buy Buy Baby vs BRU is like comparing the Four Seasons to Motel 6.

I registered at Buy Buy Baby.  It was an awesome experience.  The store is well stocked, organized and the staff is helpful but not pushy.  There was no automatic registering of gift cards or buyer protection plans or any other tacky thing that BRU does.

I've started a registry on Amazon.  I agree with pps who have said that this allows for comparing reviews and a wider selection of brands PLUS the items are cheaper than at BRU or other stores. Why shouldn't I want to save my friends and family money?

I have had bad experiences shopping for baby registry stuff at BRU and Target- they never seem to have anything in stock in the actual stores!  The vast majority of people who will be invited to my shower are online shoppers at least some of the time, so I am not concerned.

I registered at BRU for the convenience of guests. If there was a BBB back home, I would have registered there in a heartbeat. In terms of customer service, in-store stock, and return/exchange policies, here's my rank of the major retailers from best to worst:

1. BBB

2. BRU

3. Target

4. Walmart

I'm leaving Amazon off the list because unless you know for sure your guests are early shoppers that like to shop online, this can be an inconvenience for your guests. Otherwise, I love Amazon and they would be my #2.

I chose not to register online because of this. My sister registered at target and amazon because things were cheaper at amazon. Her target registry was wipes put but only one thing was purchased from Amazon. I don't think people planned ahead enough for ordering online. A lot of people shop a day or two in advance and then would have had to wait for shipping. I registered at target and BRU. I had a smal issue with BRU saying I was requesting extras like extended warranty and batteries but I was able to call and get that removed. Otherwise it's been fine at both. I would have much preferred BBB but it isn't easily accessible for most of y guests

I registerd at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us and had overall decent experiences with both - was able to modify my registries online and was able to return items to both stores with no issues.  I did have a few random issues with BRU - none of which were huge deals but still very annoying:

1) after registering in store at BRU, I went home and looked at my registry online and saw some items I did not register for, as well as some of the wrong colors for items. While I could delete the items I did not register for, I could never change the colors on the affected items.

2) I thought some the descriptions on BRU registry were hard to figure out especially on the few clothing items I picked.

3) they put on the registry that I wanted batteries and the protection plan for certain items, which I specifically checked I did not want when filling out the form.  I could never change that online so I just included a note at the top of my registry saying to ignore that.

If I could have, I would have registered at BBB only but it was not geographically convenient to most of my shower guests.

We did BuyBuyBaby and a small one on amazon. BBB was great and would totally recommend.  BBB will price match amazon (you can spread that by word of mouth) and will take unexpired Bed,Bath and Beyond coupons.

Only a few people bought off of amazon and those were people that weren't able to come to the shower so they just bought it and had amazon send it to us.

I registered at BRU and Target for my family/friends shower.  Target and WalMart for the church shower.  I did not register for work shower - it was the last one and they just asked what I needed yet.  They went in on a big gift and then each person got me something small (toy, sleeper, book, etc).  There were only 9 ladies at that shower.  No one at that time really shopped on-line much.

I did BRU (US), BRU (Canada), and Snugglebugz.  My favourite so far has been BRU (US); because of the superior selection, reputation, and customer service.  Unfortunately, the Canadian store could not replicate my registry, but I was told that US returns could be done in Canada.  Snugglebugz, is a slightly higher end baby store in Canada, and I'm lucky to live close by.

i did all my registering online.  I do hope to get to BRU (US) this weekend before my shower since I understand they give you a welcome package.

I just had to add that we registered at Buy Buy Baby, and it was a great experience.  They have very helpful and informative employees who do not try to push you into anything.  They also offer a free "mommy walk" where you get a perzonalized one-on-one tour of the store with a Baby registry employee... they will answer all of your questions and go through all of your "must have's"... we would have been lost without it!   Besides that, the store is very well stocked and clean and a much nicer shopping experience than BRU.
