Do you do stockings? This is the first year DH and I will do stockings for ourselves. But we've always spent Christmas at our families houses. My mom does stockings. His does not.

What do you put in your stockings?
My mom always puts in carmex, fuzzy socks for the girls, gloves for boys, bath wash or lotion, maybe a little jewelry item for the girls and little tool knickknack for boys. Most importantly we each get a magazine that she spends weeks trying to find the right one.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? She has done it this way for years and its nice to know it hasn't changed since I was a kid. We all usually get excited about the magazine. She always finds one that we've never heard of but it still relates to each person. For me she usually gets a photography or canon magazine which are hard to find except in specialty bookstores.

My MIL side of the family does stockings.  I'm not a fan of about 1/2 the stuff they put in there.  They do like Chapstick, small bottles of lotion, seasoning packets and always an orange.  They do put a few good things in there like an iTunes gift card, some cookies or fuzzy socks.  I just feel bad when I get home and throw away half of it.

we don't do stockings at our house but my mom does them when we go to Seatlte for Christmas (not this year =( )

She usually puts little liquor bottles and scratch tickets in them now that we're all adults.

we LOVE doing stockings at our house! growing up, the parents pretty much filled them with candy and little things like jewelry, hairbows, lip gloss, etc.we always got to open them on christmas eve before going to bed.

now, DH and i put meaningful and fun things in ours, i.e. favorite candies, CDs we make for each other, novelty crap for cheap laughs, and traditional gifts that are small enough. i am really excited about doing them again this year!

Do you do stockings? DH and I have not for each other before...but my mom does them for us at her house.

What do you put in your stockings? We usually do candy, lottery scratch offs, ect. My mom actually does a huge "flow over" thing with shampoo and body wash and other stuff we need. It's our chance to get that expensive shampoo we want but wouldn't spend on ourselves.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? Meh, it's whatever we want really.

Do you do stockings? Yes, Ma'am.

What do you put in your stockings? Depends. Usually some bath stuff (like a toothbrush, toothpaste,  deodorant or a razor) Then a pair of undergarments (like a pair of underwear, a pair of socks),  A Christmas themed chapstick, soap or lotion, an orange, Your favorite candy, some small novelty toys like those tubes of multicolored plastic bubbles that you stick on the end of the straw, marshmallow shooter guns or marshmallow shooting sling shots, etc , and then one or 2 gifts or gift card.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? In a "commercial" sized stocking you buy from the store and these items are more traditional in my house. DH's family does candy and gifts but I think there are too many presents involved (There were like 6 in each stocking and they were not inexpensive gag gifts!)  and you just didn't get that many presents when I was growing up.

Do you do stockings? Yes

What do you put in your stockings? Orange, chocolate coins wraped in gold foil, candy canes, razzles and occasionally a small gift.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? All traditional for my family except the razzles. The razzles are something I started with DH a few years ago.

Do you do stockings? Yes

What do you put in your stockings? Anything really.  DVDs/Blue Rays, cologne/perfume, jewelry, video game etc.  Along with the present, we put scratch off lottery tickets, which is something my parents put in our stockings growing up.  now that I am typing it out it sound kind of redneck, but it's fun after we open our gifts to scratch off our tickets to see if we won anything.  We usually skip candy since neither one of us are big candy eaters.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock?  The lotto tickets are tradition, but the present is just something that will fit in the stocking.

We have stockings, DH and I and our cat!

We always put candy in them! Because ever since I can remember, there has been lots of candy in those stockings! My mom still does stockings for all of us kids, and there is always fruit in them... fruit, nut and candy.... I never really realized how weird the fruit and nuts were until I typed it out...

Do you do stockings? My H and I don't but my mom always has them for us when we go to their house on Christmas morning.

What do you put in your stockings? Always an orange, and Kiehl's lip balm, chocolate and a gift card to DD or Starbucks with some little random things she found.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? They could definitely fit inside a regular sock but it's sentimental that she still uses the stocking my aunt made for me when I was born!

We definitely do stockings. I think it is my favorite part. We do body wash, candy, scratchers, deodorant, new razors, bubble bath, gift cards, small wallet sized frame with picture of DD, fishing stuff, lift ticket, concert ticket, super cross tickets....(not all at once, just thinking of stuff we have done over the years)

We definitely do stockings!  My Mom always had the best things in there!

usually we just put in some chocolates and always a Chocolate Letter and for my step daughters some socks and underwear and some small toys, hair elastics and things like that.  DH usually gets chocolate, a magazine, an ice scraper, and other things that normally don't fit into the stocking

Do you do stockings? My parents did them when we were kids. When we got old enough, we helped them. Now that my mom is remarried with 4 new step kids, she does stocking with her husband for everyone & they each do one for each other. DH & I don't do them for each other, but we will when we have kids.

What do you put in your stockings? We always bought a bunch of dumb things - dollar store toys etc - and then 1 awesome thing. Mom used to get diamond earrings or other pieces of expensive jewelry from my Dad, Dad always got some cool tool that he didn't have before. Us kids usually got some toy that was small enough to fit (barbies, rc cars, whatever).

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? Always small enough to fit IN the sock. Santa always brought two things: a stocking full of little things & one gift too big to fit in the stocking that was separate.

Do you do stockings? Not until I started dating DH. His mom is a crafty little devil and made stockings for their family when the kids were growing up. She has since added one for me and one for my sister-in-law's husband, so it's now a tradition for all of us. My mom used to hang stockings for decoration but she never put anything in them.

What do you put in your stockings? We put in silly trinkets, small necessities that we wouldn't think to buy ourselves (flash drives, pocket tissues, moist wipes etc.), candy, nail polish, basically anything that's small enough that we can shove in the stocking.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock? We always try to fit everything into the stocking, but last year we had some overflow!

Do you do stockings? DH and I don't give them to each other but our parents still give them to us, as well as my grandparents.

What do you put in your stockings?  DH's mom does the traditional candy, chapstick, a small gift (usually inexpensive jewelry), socks, etc.  My parents tend to spend a bit more - expensive hair products (including shampoo, etc), makeup, a few pairs of expensive underwear and socks, DVDs, etc.

Are these items a traditional gift or something small enough to fit inside a sock?

Both sides use a traditional sized stocking and my parents put the 'spillover' outside of the stocking - things like shampoo, beer, and magazines.

Now, when I was a kid, my brother and I's stockings were like this:

(That is not me) They were so large I could fit in them and they'd be filled with dolls, stuffed animals, coloring books, etc., along with the traditional pop, candy, toothbrushes, etc.  Most of our gifts from Santa were in that stocking, and then our 'big gift' would be displayed and set up in front of the fireplace.  These stockings were used until my brother no longer believed in Santa (couldn't change it without being suspicious).

We absolutely do stockings! Well, really I do stockings. Husband grew up with them and I didn't but always loved the idea. I do one for Husband and each of our girls. Husband usually gets practical stuff, like lighters, pens, maybe a puzzle book. For the girls, they get a toy and a couple of chews, like a rawhide or bully stick. So fun to watch them go bananas dragging everything out their stockings.

Do you do stockings? Yep, we've had stockings since our first christmas together, big fluffy red and white ones.

What do you put in your stockings? Mostly candy and knicknacks, sometimes its whatever will fit, like last year DH got a watch in his and some moongel for his drums. One year when I was still working outside of the home, he filled it up with gift cards to my favorite fast food restaurants so that I would actually eat on my lunch break.
