I'm unfamiliar with the name's history, but I've only known one IRL. I went to HS with a girl named Darcy.
I do know someone with the surname Darcy though, but I generally think of it as a FN, because of my original connection with the name.
Anxiously awaiting baby #1! Baby BOY Due: May 30, 2013!
Darcy is a male name and it sounds awfully male to me.

Personally, I wouldn't use this name on a girl.

In 2011, there were 140 baby girls named Darcy and 15 baby boys.

I agree with this. I hear Darcy and I think of Mr. Darcy from P&P or a male character in the Her Royal Spyness series.
strawberrytree:I went to HS with 3 male Darcys, so despite having a female cousin named Darci I think of it as a boy name. I love it and would use it except it reminds DH of a [male] hockey player that he hates so it was nixed.
