Waiting woes

I am 5 weeks along. My first appointment is not until Jan 3rd (almost 10wks). I am having MAJOR anxiety about these next few weeks...my greatest fear is that I'll go to my appointment and something will be wrong. Does anyone else have any "waiting" stories, or anything that will stop me from buying a million pregnancy tests in the next 4.5 weeks??

Ps. I am so excited I just told the lady at Starbucks I was pregnant. Woops. (yes I got decaf!)

If something goes wrong or is wrong, there isn't much you can do to prevent it unfortunately. Just enjoy this time with your little bean and try to relax! Congrats on your BFP!

I know it sucks. I think 10ish weeks is the norm for most people. Some practices will let you stop by just to use the doppler and check for the heartbeat though. Can you ask your OB if this is something their office does?

I am friends with President Obama. I asked him to dress up in an Easter Bunny costume and show up at my parents' house with a giant check for $1 million a la Ed McMahon on Easter Weekend. We were going to make them think that they had won Publishers Clearinghouse sweepstakes LOL. As soon as they answered the door, we had our friend stage a robbery - they made it look like everyone in the Publisher's Clearninghouse van was violently murdered. They threw the "bodies" out of the van onto the street and peeled out. We had a fake ambulance and police show up. Then my parents' neighbors came by with a basket of kittens - they were SO cute! Just when my parents were so freaked out by seeing kittens after a murder/robbery AND having won $1 million, we had Pres. Obama take off the Easter Bunny head and say "Surprise!! You're going to be grandparents!" My parents will never forget that moment. - Pillowass

We all have had we wait. Most places wont see you till 8-10 weeks. Most of us find out were pregnant at 4-5 weeks. It does suck alot but honestly it worth it. i had to go in early at 6w4d for an ultrasound and it was awesome to see the tiny little one but then i didnt get an U/S at 8 weeks or since. I kinda wish i could have waited to see it bigger. So now im waiting just like you. I have to wait till the end of Jan....BUT thats when i get to find out the sex! so waiting does suck but it does go by fast.

Waiting is actually a good thing. My first appointment was at just over 6 weeks, and the appointment was not anything exciting. It is way too early to see or hear anything. All they did was get a urine sample and draw blood. Today was my second appointment and at 9w5d, we got to hear a heartbeat and had a lot more to discuss with the doctor.

5 weeks here too! I feel like one day I might be light headed the next day bloated the next sick and then exhausted and sometimes I feel just fine and think oh no is it still in there!? I am like you I just want to tell everyone I see too but we aren't telling for awhile and its HARD! But I guess once everyone knows the fun is kinda gone?

And do you feel like everyone is so much farther along and think o I wish I could feel more see more?? It is sooo early! Hang in there! Once Christmas is here (and it will in no time!) it will only be a week away!

Thanks! Yes!  I am not a natural worrier, but for some reason I only can think of the "worst case scenario" and am nervous to get bad news on the 3rd! But ANYWAY..focusing on staying positive and healthy for the little one- and I'm sure the time will fly. :) congrats to you! So exciting.

My doctor does this. He said to call anytime I felt uneasy about something and they'd bring out the doppler for me. I have wanted to a few times but I don't wanna be "THAT patient" haha. Guess I'll just wait it out til my next appointment the 19th.

As for the waiting advice, try to find something to fill your time and occupy your mind. I know, it totally sucks!  my DH is gone a lot for work and I've found that  if I'm just sitting around alone, I started worrying more and thinking about it, so I keep myself busy, whether it's cleaning or reading or catching up with a friend. =)

I feel the same way. I am 7 weeks and my appt. is next Thursday. I have taken two pregnancy tests and both were about 3 weeks ago. I can't help but worry and wonder what is going on!

I am right there with you. My first appointment is also on the 3rd at 11 am I took the day off from work since my office is an hour away from the doctor. I can't wait to see our little nugget. I think it will feel more real once we actually see the baby. But on the bright side the longer we have to wait the bigger the baby will be in our 1st sonogram.

Haha! If this was facebook I would like your "positive I'll get ZERO work done"! Totally understand! I always try not to be "that" patient but ALWAYS end up being "that" patient. Never fails. Fun times! :) You could keep a journal?. But that might make you think of it more. I have one but don't get to it every day but most.

I was like this in my first trimester. As weird or corny as it may sound, what really helped me was to tell myself (literally every day in the mirror) that today I am pregnant and that I love this baby. Birth is the ordinary miracle and it happens every day (I heard that part on a show I was watching and somehow it just eased the fears a little). Good luck!

I know what you mean! I am constantly worried and my with my work schedule my ob could not get me in until jan 11th!  I am 5 weeks and my only symptom is that I am very tired...I guess I thought I would feel more pregnant than this (I know that sounds strange). I can't wait until my appointment so I calm down a little
