It's quiet, so I figure I'll post an update. :)

I don't want to be the kind of person that posts with every single update in their life, but I figured it was quite aruond here and we got some good news and progress around our situation. As you may remember, our current RE refused to do the FET with our DEmbryos due to a dumb FDA red tape issue. However yesterday, we found a great RE in San Antonio that will do the FET and even better, this clinic has the best FET SART rates in Central Texas - much better than our current RE!

We were even willing to drive to San Antonio for all of the process (1.5 hours each way) but it turns out that they have a satellite office in Austin which is only 20 minutes away. The doctor that has agreed to oversee our cycle is the medical director over third party reproduction but she will be teaming with a second doctor (highly revered) on her team that will be seeing me locally. I feel like they really want to give me the best shot possible with great care. In dealing with the office staff, I have been blown away to their attentiveness, flexibility, and care about our situation.

AND they are not going to make me do a repeat SHG and HSG like I thought I was going to have to do. I think my SHG was the most painful procedure I've ever had done in my life so you can imagine my relief.

We have our consult on December 13th and we should be deciding on cycle dates. I can't believe how fast this went from a bleak, desperate waiting game to moving so quickly and wonderfully.

The donor "V" and her husband were supposed to sign the notarized clinic paperwork last Saturday, but I guess their clinic never sent her the form. Argh. But V just told me she finally got the paperwork and will be able to get them signed either today or Saturday. I told her that as a silly request, to please let us know so my husband and I can pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

I've never really looked deeply into FET protocols and calendars. I had been thinking we would be doing this sometime in January or February. But I've done some reading that says you might have to be on BCP or Lupron for quite a bit. For those of you who have done FET, what was your medication protocol and calendar like?

Is the SHG the same as a saline sono? When did you last have your ute checked? Just mentioning it because I had polyps removed in April and my clinic did not have me repeat the saline sono before my DE cycle. I found a new polyp 2 weeks ago and was shocked since it had been cleaned out. I want your embryos to have the best chance to implant so I am mentioning that maybe you should RE do the SHG.

Anyway, great that you found a new RE to do this for you!!  As for FET  protocols,  I was using a fresh donor so I had to wait for her but I was on BCP's for a few weeks. Then I added lupron for  5 days overlapped with BCPs. Then stopped BCP and stayed on lupron. AF showed up on the 3rd day. Then I went for baseline on CD3 and then started estrace(stayed on lupron until donor's ER).

How wonderful! So glad you don't have to drive to SAT. What a pain that would be! Will YH still have to do the infectious disease panel? I can't remember if it was your old clinic or the FDA making him do that.

FX V signs the papers today so you don't have to wait on that anymore!!

I didn't do FET w/DE but I was on BCPs for about six weeks with my FET. That was partially, though, because of my PCOS. The RE said the male hormones needed to be extra super suppressed. (I think that's the technical term, "extra super suppressed." You can tell that I'm an expert at this stuff, right?)

I was then started on PIO and estrogen. Started PIO once a day, then they bumped it up to twice. Sorry I don't have a better calendar for you. I'm pretty lazy about my past cycles. It's like I have a mind-wipe after each BFN.

Good luck to you and thumbs up to celebrating with some champagne when your donor signs her paperwork. FX!

FET 1.1 -- 10/2, transferred our 2 blasts. Lupron, PIO, estrogen, baby aspirin, prednisone. BFN.
IVF 2.0 December 2012 -- Bravelle, Menopur, Ganirelix, Prednisone, Metformin, estrogen, progesterone supps. 22 eggs retrieved on 12/14, 17 mature, 15 fertilized. OHSS anticipated so ET cancelled. 3 embryos frozen.
Broke up with old RE. Moving on to new dude. Maybe the change of scenery will be just the trick for our frosties. On BCPs for possible April FET.

Yes, the SHG is a saline ultrasound, but the good news is that I had mine done in July so only about 5 months ago. They did find a polyp but it was removed with a hysteroscopy. Speaking of that, good luck on yours!

I'll bring up the question of a repeat SHG in front of the doctor on Thursday and see if he wants to do it again. I'm willing to do it again no matter what pain I have to endure if it means we give this the best shot possible. Maybe I'll ask for a valium or something! ;-)

Yes, DH has to do the panel still. It's an FDA rule (soooo stupid!) but at least we are having it drawn while we are at the consult on Thursday so he doesn't have to go to a seperate lab and whine about that part of it.

Interesting about the male hormone surpression. My original CD3 tests showed increased testosterone and abnormal SHBG which led my OB to diagnose me with PCOS. My RE ultimately said I don't have it, turns out I have DOR instead. But I wonder if the male hormones will be a factor for me too. I'll ask the RE on Thurs!

You really have me thinking...I am going to push to get one after all. My insurance will pay for it anyway, the only downside is the pain which I'll just get over. Youre right... This is maybe a dumb question, but getting an SHG would accomplish basically the same thing as an HSG would, except the tubes. Right? I ask because they were talking about making me redo the HSG but it seems like if I just did the SHG I hope that would be enough to tell me if there was something going on in there we needed to do something about.

I've never redone the HSG. Both times I had saline sonos, they found polyps. I am going to ask the doc tomorrow if she can put fluid through the tubes while she is in there just to flush them out since they have not been checked in 2 yrs. Don't know if you can do that during hysteroscopy or not?  Apparently if you had a hydrosalphinx(sp?) it could send toxic fluid into ute and kill the embryos. That would be one reason to get the HSG over just saline sono.

Even though my Donor egg embryos were terrible, I can't help but wonder if the polyp prevented implantation. I put 3 back and not even a chemical. Makes me wonder and I never thought that another polyp was in there. I did the sono at the suggestion of a second opinion I went to. My DE clinic didn't suggest it  so I got lucky here that ore doc said to check for one.
