First world problem

For my entire life I have had a flip phone and for the last two years I have had no texting to save money. Then my flip phone died and my family insisted I join the 21st century and get a smartphone. So I narrowed it down to an Iphone 5 and Galaxy 3. I was coerced into getting the Iphone 5 and I get the basics of how to use it but today i was trying to text while on a phone call and it didnt work. I wanted to throw it out the window. So my question is should I pay the $35 exchange fee and try the galaxy or keep at the iphone? Also if you have either please chime in with opinions of which you think is better and why.

That's a great question!  I am getting ready to upgrade and these are the two phones I am considering.  I need to go check them out in person, but I am leaning toward the G3, with the main concern being the size of the phone.  I'm very interested to hear feedback from others about these two phones.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I honestly don't get what the big deal is about the iPhone and sometimes I feel like its turned into a religion. I've worked in technology for over 14 years and everything the iPhone touts it can do, the android based phones can do better, and usually for less $$.  Customization on an android based phone is much better than on an iPhone. If it means anything, the company i work for offers both types to employees for company phones and frequently people turn in their iPhones for the android phones and are very happy afterwards. The iPhones are just too restrictive compared to the androids.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm one of the other anti-iPhone people out there. I love my Galaxy. My husband has an iPhone and I hate using his. The iPhone doesn't make as much sense to me, but I've also had nothing but Android-based phones since they started making them. It syncs up really well with gmail and the maps are awesome, way better than Apple's. The only tiny issue I have is that they're constantly updating the software.

Can I ask who your carrier is? Verizon does not let you text while on the phone where as AT & T does. The only problem with AT & T is that the service suuuuuuucks! Verizon service is way better but also more expensive.
