So we had our WTF appointment today. Basically, he said that my protocol was correct and he wouldn't change a thing. 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 6 fertilized. They put 2 grade 1 embryos back in and we ended up with 2 blasts frozen. It's so frustrating to know that we basically just got the wrong side of the coin flip this time. He said my fall down 8 icy stairs probably wasn't the cause, but didn't help matters. I jokingly said that next time, I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap! He said that might not be a bad idea :)
I was prepared to do a FET thinking that we could move forward with that more quickly than with a fresh round. The nurse actually had the FET protocol calendar ready to go.
Then, he threw us for a loop. He said he recommended proceeding with a fresh cycle...right away! I'm shocked! His thoughts are that the success rates are higher (he is giving us a 50% chance with fresh and 25% with FET) and we currently have some IVF coverage. My husband is applying for new jobs - which will probably require a move and for me to quit my job (and my insurance) mid-summer. He said that we will hopefully get more frozen from the next round - which will increase our chances with a future FET cycle.
I was so ready to do a FET and this is just a change of gears. Lupron, then stims the first of the year and tentative ER mid-January! Eeek :)
Welcome to the January cycling group!! Sounds exciting to be starting up again so soon!! Best of luck to you!
