shower cap style car seat cover

I have one of the JJ cole seat covers that fit over the top. Is it necessary to bundle her up with coat? We live in MI and it gets pretty cold.

Coats should never be used in carseats (infant or toddler).  They don't allow the straps to be tightened close enough to the body, can compress in a crash and allow your baby to come loose from the harness.  Use blankets over the straps and then the shower cap cover and a hat and she'll be fine.

Ditto pp. We live in MI too and have the same carseat cover. I just put a blanket inside and a hat and mittens if necessary and they are warm enough.

I live in MN and DS was born last February.  We used the same cover, and didn't even use a blanket or anything else inside with him.  He was fine in just his clothes with the cover over the seat.

We use thin fleece hoodies/jackets if we will be outside.  And a blanket. It gets steamy in there.

I live up north too, we have him in just his outfit. Then the carseat cover and a blanket over the top of the cover if it's really cold out. Our dr. told us to not put anything else in the carseat - blankets etc.

I have been doing just what everyone has recommended.  My mother made be feel horrible when she saw that all she had on  was a hat and mittens. She told me to put on a snow suit.  I knew about the heavy coat thing etc.
