Clomid

Has anyone been given clomid when ttc and if you took it was your usage monitored or not?

On the TTC boards they are all surprised that my doctor gave me clomid and didnt mention any ultrasounds or blood tests that were to be done during my usage. I wasnt sure if this was normal for military coverage or if I should be concerned and bring this up to my doctor at my next appointment.

I took my first round of clomid last month and it was monitored, my RE is a civilian but Tricare covers him because we don't live at a post with a fertility clinic.

I was seen by a military RE and was monitored with each treatment cycle Clomid then Gonalf.

In my opinion and experience, monitoring is crucial. I developed persistent cysts from Clomid. The only reason they knew this was because of monitoring.

It would be in your best interests to tell your PCM that you would like to be referred to Walter Reed's Infertility Clinic for treatment. OBs have no business writing scripts for Clomid.

Good luck!

In my experience, MTF providers tend to pass out Clomid like it's candy. Not getting pregnant? No need for testing. Here's some Clomid. Come back when you're KTFU. I can't tell you how many people I know who were just given Clomid without fist determining if it was necessary and then received no monitoring. I had a friend who had only been TTC 3 months. She decided that was too long, so her MTF OB gave her Clomid to "jump start your odds." WTF? You should 100% be monitored.

Walter Reed is the clinic I am being seen at the the REI clinic is the one who gave me the clomid. I havent started using it and have an appt on the 17th. I will be asking about being monitored. I dont feel comfortable just taking it with reading posts like yours about cysts.

We have been tested and were told 2% chance of conceiving naturally, 4% chance with clomid and 9% chance with clomid and IUI.

We have decided to try clomid. I'm just concerned bc I havent been told of any monitoring appts.

No it was not Family Practice. It was the Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility clinic doctor after reviewing our test results.

I was monitored, it's actually very important. I did see a civilian, though as well.

Go over to 3T or the IF board and ask this question.  Military providers LOVE to hand out candy and it is NOT something to mess with.  Don't be complacent about your own health care.  DEMAND appropriate healthcare!
