Updated: NTTGPG: woke up dizzy

I woke up dizzy like I was still drunk and had a hangover the room was spinning and I haven't even drank anything! I can't shake it either..the room isn't spinning anymore but I'm still dizzy! I've eaten and drank some OJ...I was thinking maybe blood sugar but eating didn't help so now I have no idea what it could be unless this is some stupid side effect from coming off my BCP. This is technically my 5th day not being on them..I didn't take any of my inactive pills last week but I should have started my new pack on Sunday. Has anyone else had anything like this happen when coming off the pill?

I went to the DR on my dinner break at work and waited 2 hours..Turns out that because of the flu I developed a subsequent sinus infection as a result. I know I didn't spell that right but you get the idea..now I have more antibiotics to take and prednisone for 3 days.

I haven't had that from coming off of the pill, but could you possibly have an ear infection? That will cause a lot of dizziness. Are you on any other medications? I had an antibiotic cause severe vertigo once.

I hope you don't have to drive today!

I would definately call the Dr. if it has not gone away yet.  It could be dehydration, inner ear problem, low blood sugar, blood pressure problems and the list goes on and on.  Take care of yourself!

That was not a side effect for me. If it continues you should call your Dr.
That doesn't sound fun at all.

I think it can be a sign of low iron too. Definitely worth getting it checked out if it keeps happening. Hopefully it's something as simple as just getting up too fast.

It sounds exactly what happens to me sometimes. The doctor told me that it was because I have very low iron. I have noticed that when I take my iron supplements I am WAY better. This usually happens to me really bad about once a month and maybe a few other times a month not so bad. If I take my iron it might happen a couple times a year still. If iron upsets your stomach I would recommend taking a prenatal vitamin. In high school that is what my doctor recommended. I guess the iron is somehow more gentle on the stomach in a prenatal vitamin.

That is my best guess. GL!

TTC #1 since August 2011
September 2012: Start IF testing
DH: SA is good
Me: CD 3 blood work is good, HSG all clear, 7 DPO blood work shows low progesterone
October 2012: Clomid + IUI = BFN
December 2012: Consultation with RE#1. Not impressed with RE#1.
January 2013: Consultation with RE#2
January 2013: CF screening shows that I am a carrier of CF. Thankfully, DH's screening shows that he is not a carrier of CF. Sperm antibody tests are negative for both of us. According to our RE we are Unexplained IF
March 2013: Post coital tests show possible hostile CM. So, maybe not so unexplained?
April 2013: Unmedicated IUI after yet another bad bad PCT. = BFN
Cultures find a bacterial infection that could harm fertility, DH and I both start antibiotics.
May 2013: Clomid + Trigger + IUI

There is such a thing as viral vertigo. It is really strange and not very fun. You can be dizzy no matter what you're doing. The room could seem like its spinning or you could just feel off balance. Standing you feel like you might tip over and walking is difficult because you can't seem to walk in a straight line. At least that's what I experienced. I have had this virus before...it takes one to two weeks for it to run its course. You should talk to your Dr. just to be sure as to what is causing your dizziness, but if it is this virus, there is nothing you can do but wait it out. GL

I had the same symptoms you do. I was dx with benign paroxsymal positional vertigo. Try the Epley Manuever demo'ed on youtube by the APA. Do it on both sides. Works wonders!

I did have to drive...I'm at work now and I feel like when I walk I'm just going to walk right off the edge of the floor...I guess I need to make another trip to the DR..I had the flu last week so I guess it could be some stupid effect from that or the tamiflu...I wasn't even thinking about being sick since I feel so much better up until today!

This. Yes I have low iron and sometimes I just get vertigo for no apparent reason. Well, no reason except that I suck at remembering my iron supplement. It might be nothing but you should absolutely consider seeing a Doctor. Dizziness lasting that long could be bad.
