New to IF board from TTGP- Hello!

Hello! Big Smile

My name is Jennifer and Im coming over from the TTGP board to join you ladies.

A little history on DH and I.  Me-30, DH-34.  We have been together for 5 years and married for about a year and a half. We have been TTC since Jan/Feb 2011. DH has been DX with MIF and it is unknown as to why.  There is nothing medically of genetically wrong.  He did have low testosterone but that was fixed with medication.  Unfortunately the increase in testosterone did nothing for his SA counts.  I had a clean bill of health.

We have had 2 failed IUI's and are about to have our first IVF/ICSI round starting at the end of this month.  I am trying to learn as much as I can about ICSI.  I really did not know much about.  Has anyone here had this treatment.

I look forward to getting to know you ladies!

Welcome to the board, Im sorry you have to be here.  I want to wish you good luck with your IVF cycle & I think you will find that this board is really helpful. 

I've had one completed IVF cycle with ICSI & am between of ER & ET of my 2nd.  Basically what we were told about ICSI is that they inject the sperm directly into the egg, which is why it's so recommended for MFI.  Some offices offer to do an ICSI split where if there's enough eggs/sperm, they will divide them into two groups & fertilize one with ICSI & the other they let fertilize naturally.  I don't think we had enough eggs the first round to do the split.  Hopefully this time we will.

Feb'12- Clomid/TI with CD3 &21 labs(normal)& SA-count 6mil/ml,morph/motil OK-BFN
April'12 Ultrasounds,HSG -clear, slight acurate uterus
5/14 IUI #1-50 mg clomid-post wash total motile count 19.3 prometrium 2dpiui= BFN
6/11-IUI #2-100 mg clomid & prometrium post wash count total motile 17.5 = BFN
7/6 IUI#3 with 100 mg clomid, estridiol, prometrium. post wash total motile count 23.3 = BFN
8/30IVF#1 BCPs, Follistim, Menopur,Ganerelix,Novarel.
ER 9/11-8R, 7M, 5F.
ET 9/14 2 embies transferred. 1 10cell Grade 4, 1 8cell Grade 4. No frosties. BFN
IVF#2 BCPs, Follistim, Menopur, Ganerelix, Novarel, Baby Aspirin
ER 12/5-16R, 12M, 8F!
ET 12/10 5dt! 1 fully expanded blast & 1 early blast. No frosties. BFN
2/13- Saline sono revealed a polyp. All additional labwork coming back normal. Genetic screen revealed DH has MTHFR deficiency & I am a carrier for it.
3/13 hysteroscopy & polypectomy
3/27 Began working with Reproductive Immunologist Dr. Kwak-Kim. Found High NK cells, High DHEAs, slight hypothyroidism, tendency toward blood clots (High PAI-1)Began synthroid & metformin 4/19.

IUI w/clomid 7/2011. IUI w/clomid & injectables 11/2011 & 1/2012. ~ All BFN
Occasionally using acupuncture.
IVF #1:EPP 5/2012 ~ (4R, 3M, 2F w/ICSI). Both embies txfrd. ~ BFN
BCP to manage Endo from 10/2012 to 12/2012.

Welcome! We will be doing icsi on Friday morning. Dh doesn't have MIF I think it improves the odds of the egg fertilizing though.

Welcome over here, I'm sorry you have to be here. We have MFI with no known cause too (hormones etc. check out) and it sucks! PPs answered your question about ICSI but this is extremely common with a DX of MFI, in fact if you were DX with MFI and the RE didn't mention ICSI I would be concerned.

I'm in betwen the ER and ET of my first IVF cycle, and my clinic only does ICSI, though  with my husband's morphology and motility issues we probably would have considered it anyways.

failed IUIs 6/12, 8/12, 9/12

Welcome!  Our RE does all ICSI unless told otherwise.  We would do it either way, since we are also MFI.  There are wonderful, knowledgeable ladies on this board.  Good luck!

Welcome! We did ICSI as well for our MFI...not a great fertilization rate since ours is severe but without it we probably would have had none fertilize. GL!
TTC since June 2011
DX: DH (30) severe MFI, severely low count & low motility
Me (32): all clear
Appt with Urologist 5/21/12: exam, ultrasound, bloodwork all normal.
Testicular Biopsy with TESE on 6/8/12. good sperm found! (left side only) froze sperm, failed thaw test :(
Orientation for IVF/ICSI on 6/13/12. Waiting for the green light following biopsy results...results show adequate sperm production both sides.
2nd SA 6/18/12: sample is "adequate for ICSI"
Plan: IVF/ICSI July 2012!
ER: 7/26/12. 15 eggs retrieved, all mature.
TESE/TESA/aspiration from epididymis, no motile sperm found :(
froze all eggs, the saga of praying for good sperm continues.
8/3/12: 2nd opinion from MFI uro on biopsy slides. Suspects "partial late maturation arrest."
Plan: more SAs, third biopsy/TESE with frozen back-up either from DH or DS.
SA 8/17/12: Zero sperm
SA 8/23/12: Zero sperm
9/26/12: SPERM FOUND! 15 eggs thawed, 12 survived and were ICSI'd, only 3 fertilized normally. Refrozen as embies and will thaw in Nov. Please survive and grow!
All 3 survived the thaw on 11/15/12!
FET 11/17/12: transferred 2, one 4B, one 4C. Beta 11/30:BFFN
moving on to DS
DIUI#1 2/18/13,50mg Clomid cd 3-7, Ovidrel trigger, Beta 3/4/13: BFN.
DIUI#2 3/19/13, 50 mg Clomid cd 3-7, Ovidrel trigger, Beta #1 (14dpiui) 4/2/13: BFP!!!! 150. Beta #2 4/4/13: 420 Beta #3 4/8/13: 2691. Beta #4 4/15/13: 15,086
1st u/s 4/8/13 shows one gestational sac
2nd u/s 4/15/13 shows yolk sac, fetal pole and early heartbeat
3rd u/s 4/25/13: measuring right on track. Heart rate 148 bpm
