carrier question

my husband and I are TCC but are starting our "wish list" for the baby. I am wondering if anyone has any opinions on baby carriers.

I want a sling/wrap style carrier but my husband wants the traditional carrier where the baby can face forward or toward you but because I have heard that the triditional carriers where the legs pop out can cause hip issues/bow legged issues and am nervous about getting a carrier that allows the legs to pop out.

Congrats and GL on TTC!

We started with a Moby wrap, which is really good/comfy for those newborn days.  But it's kind of a PITA for going out and about.  You have to tie it on you before you leave the house, othewise you're dragging the cloth on the parking lot ground.  Also DH still doesn't know how to tie it.  He just gets frustrated and asks me to do it for him. I've heard good things about the K'tan, but have never tried one.  It's sized and already "pre-tied" for you.  Both of these style wraps are really only comfortable for parents to use up to about 15 pounds.  Then it's hard on your back.

We recently bought a Beco Gemini, and LOVE it.  The hip issues you've heard about are the Bjorn and other carriers where baby dangles by it's crotch.  The nicer carriers like the Ergo, Beco and Boba are designed so that baby has a "seat" in the carrier rather than dangling by the crotch.  BTW the Beco Gemini is the only "good" carrier that allows baby to face out.

I think this is a personal preference question for sure.  Try a few out and see what you think, or like.  Personally, we used a Baby Bjorn, just the classic style and it was just fine.  However, we didn't use it a ton - I don't put a lot of stock into the leg issues that you hear about.  Kids can have all sorts of issues with just about any product.  It's all about how much you use it, and using it correctly.  I have a lot of friends who rave about the Ergo Baby carriers and love the comfort of them.  Moby wraps are very popular, as are the K'Tan wraps.  Good luck!!

GL with TTCL!

I would love to get a moby wrap and then a carrier.. On the other hand wondering if I can simply matters by buying boba3g carrier... This has an infant adjustment for babies 7lbs -15lbs.. So may skip the moby and save some $$!

We have an ergo (love it) and I'll be trying the moby with the new baby.

I'd say anything but a Bjorn (or similar) is a safe bet.  I wish they'd discontinue/recall those things.  GL!

lol yes it is... we figure if we start a wish list now (all the gender nuteral stuff) then we won't go baby crazy once we find out we are PG and then again when we find out what the baby is. and thank you everyone for the tips I plan on sharing this with DH and maybe we'll cave in and get both!
