Intro & OPK question

Hey all!  Long (very long) time lurker, first time poster.  I have been lurking on these boards since I found out I was pregnant with my son.  He is about to turn three so I've been around a while ;)  I also have an 18 month old daughter.  I got pregnant the first try with my son, and then my daughter was a complete surprise, so I am brand new to the "trying" part of TTC.  I'm not sure what to include in the intro so if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask!

This is my first month charting and using OPKs.  I had my IUD removed on 11-7 and got my first period 11-24.  I began charting on CD 4 or 5.  I know that things will be wonky for a while after BC, so I'm trying to be proactive.  I have been doing an OPK with smu for a few days now and I have had the faintest line every day.  For the ladies that miss the surge testing once a day, did the test line ever get darker or was it always faint?  My plan was to test once a day until I see the start of a good line and then test twice a day.  Does the line start to darken a few days before a positive or should I just start testing twice a day to make sure I don't miss it.  Hope this isn't confusing, and sorry for being long winded.  I will get better at this. Promise!  TIA

Welcome! I am also new here. But, it sounds like you have WAY more experience than me, so I don't have any advice. I just wanted to wish you GL! (also, I have the exact same question as you so I am looking forward to any answers)

Welcome!

Some people do get a fade-in pattern and some people don't.  Hopefully you'll get that pattern.

What I did was tested 2x a day for the first month or two of using OPKs.  (I only use digi's though).  I usually get a few days of positives, though, so I cut back to just once in the a.m.

I also continue to test until I have both a rise in temps and negative OPKs.

HTH and good luck!

Welcome!  It sounds like you're to a good start.

As far as the OPKs go, I don't start testing until about CD10-11, and I test twice a day (at 10 and 5).  However, that is because I know I usually ovulate between CD13-15.  For me, my OPKs get darker until I hit my surge, where I'll get one or two positive tests.  Of course, I'm not using them right now.  I still have to get my IUD removed (hopefully this week).

I started testing really early in my cycle because I haven't had a period since 4-14-09. (Combination of breastfeeding, back to back pregnancies and an IUD).  I have no idea what to expect since even getting a period feels like a whole new world.  And the IUD removal is a piece of cake.  Thanks for your help!

Welcome!  My lines are always pretty light and never get darker.  I do test 3 times a day.  Good luck!

Welcome! I've never gotten a positive OPK so I don't have any good advice. Just wanted to say good luck!
