I'm an Amelia, but have always been Amy for short. Until middle school when I decided it was Ami. I have friends spell it all kinds of weird ways. When people ask how Amy is spelled I simply say "however you want it to be. It's not my real name anyway."
I'm an Allison, went by Allie until high school so that's definitely the spelling I vote for!
[I do not like either of the options with a y - Ali is fine but very unisex]
I'd go with either Ali or Allie. My friend Alexandra is an Allie.
Both y variants look misspelled to me.
TiaS16:I would say Allie...but I have no idea why.
same.
I like to spell it Allie for a girl. I called my older brother, Alexander, Ali.
I don't really like Aly or Ally.
I think Allie is pretty.
PnkDingo:I took care of a little boy named Ali (ah-lee, like Mohammed Ali or Prince Ali [Aladdin]) so I can never see the name without associating it with that. Aly/Ally makes me think Al-eye, like someone you'd form an alliance with... So I guess I'd personally go with Allie, but you see my weird train of thought, lol.
All of this!
I would spell it Allie.
I pronounce Ali the same way as Muhammed Ali
Aly, I would say the same as Ally- Al-lye
Allie is just...Al-lee
My younger sisters name is Alexandra and we call her Ali :) I've seen it spelled Ally for Allyson. Never seen Aly but Allie is usually what people mistake her speling for
