RnP: Good or Bad?

I've heard moms rave about their rock n plays, but then I have also heard that they give some babies a flat head. Thoughts? Anyone love, or hate theirs?

I didn't have one but everyone I know loves them.  And no one had flat head issues that they mentioned.  I'm definitely getting one for when we have another child.  They're relatively cheap, easy to move around and let baby sleep on an incline.  If I knew they existed, maybe I wouldn't have spent the first 9 weeks of DS's life sleeping sitting up in a chair to keep him at an angle he liked!

I didn't register for one but we got one as a gift and my LO slept in it until he was about 10 weeks old.  It was great for us.  When he was a newborn, he took all of his naps in it and he slept in it at night.  I liked that it was small enough to have in the living room during his naps, and you could touch it and it would rock on its own for a bit.  After a while though, he just looked uncomfortable in it, too big I guess.  So I started slowly transitioning him to the crib.

So, I don't  know, yes I really liked it but it's not a must have if you want to have him nap in the crib or swing.

I hope to get one this time around. I've heard so many great things about the RnP and love that it travels easily with you.

I loved our RnP.  LO hated his bassinet, so he slept in the RnP until we transitioned to his crib (5 months).  He slept much better in the RnP than he ever did in his bassinet.  We had minor flat head issues but our pedi so that can happen with a regular crib as well.

I wouldn't say I LOVE it, but it is useful to us.  I was very worried about the flat spot issue, b/c of that, I try to put LO in it for only a few hours at a time.  We use RnP to put LO to sleep at night, then after MOTN feed/change, we put him in the crib.  LO is usually sleepy enough MOTN that he doesn't mind sleeping in the crib for the rest of the night.  OTOH, at bedtime he's usually more fussy and the RnP works better than the crib.  In any case, LO only sleeps in the RnP for 3-4 hours in a 24-hr time period.  I also put a folded receiving blanket underneath the "bedding" near his head, to give it a bit more cushioning.  Since we have the original RnP, it is very hard plastic where his head rests.

I'm planning to have my twins sleep in RNPs but have also heard about their possible tendancy to contribute to flat head. I've read that the Boppy Noggin Nest pillow (used with the RNP) can help prevent it. I'll probably try it.

I really liked ours. Like a PP said, a child left in any position too long can get a flat head. My son slept in his until he was around 9 weeks old. He's 9 months old and his head couldn't be rounder!

LOVED the RnP. I bought it for DD2, and it was great. She napped in it pretty well, and DD1 loved to pull her around in it so they could "play" together.

I think any piece of baby gear can give baby a flat head if you leave them in it all the time.

We had one and loved it. Any product can give your baby a flat head if you leave them in it for too long.

this is exactly what we did and no flat head issues. The best baby item hands down is RNP.

I bought one off Craigslist before baby was born.

My sister gave me this, so this is what I've used when I need to park baby somewhere for me to do something. He really likes the mobile and lights, we've used this pretty much every single day. http://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Love-Rocker-Napper-Brown/dp/B0073DNYSW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1354985442&sr=8-5&keywords=baby+sleeper+rocker

DS is over 3 months old, and I finally used the RnP for the first time this week. He has been sick (they think he has whooping cough, blah), and part of the care instructions they told me was to keep his head elevated when he sleeps. So for the past several nights, he's slept in the RnP. The size is really nice because I can pull it up right beside the bed so I can keep an eye on him better too.

I think the RnP would have gotten more use if I didn't get the Tiny Love Rocker. I'm glad we have the RnP right now though, even if it has barely gotten used, I wouldn't want DS to sleep overnight in the Tiny Love Rocker; I think the RnP is shaped better for not allowing the baby to turn in his sleep, even though they both have the seat-belt. Glad we didn't pay full price for the RnP though (I think I paid $20) since we've barely used it.

This. FTM here but we purchased a RNP and I'm not concerned with the flat head issues. I feel like leaving baby in any item for too long can cause this problem.

I will be the dud and say I didn't like it. My DD didn't care for it. She preferred the swing and slept in it until 5 months.

This.

We loved out RNP and used it a lot for the first 3 months. A bonus was that it was so much easier to travel with than a pack n play when we were short on space. We'll be using it for this LO too.

DH's aunt bought us a RNP so that's what DD will be sleeping in at night next to our bed. I wasn't going to buy one, but since we got it as a gift we are going to use it.
